Have used TurboTax for years and will do so in the future. It helps me make the best decisions in our overly complicated tax system, especially since we operate an agritourism business.

Waste of time and money

After doing all the filing work and paying for this service (Fed. and state), I tried to email the return only to be told that this was not possible as there was an UPDATE waiting and I had to go back to get it installed - which I did. Then I tried again and again, but to no avail. Finally, I printed it out and mailed it via the Post Office, which had already LOST the first filing, which was sent to my daughter for approval. This is a problem with little solution. I have already written a review in which I said that I would recommend TurboTax to friends, but now I would like to take that review back.

What's not so great: Absolutely dispise the new printing/viewing. Took forever, often didn't even come up, way too many clicks to get there

No e- filing

So complicated

I have used Turbo Tax for years.
It seemed really complicated this year, especially the state returns. In addition, I think Turbo tax should have informed me that unemployment tax is not taxed by California prior to my paying for an additional return(I am a non-resident) and had no other income potentially taxable by Cal... I think I don'[t even need to file any California return but there is no way to double check or delete that return just because I didn'[t realize Ma taxes unemployment insurance and Cal does't.
I will call tomorrow and hopefully it is not a nightmare to find an answer if I don't need to file anything with Cal if unemployment was the only Cal income.
Other than that, I generally think Turbo Tax does a very good job.
What's great about it: LIke the guidance
What's not so great: State Returns were confusing on what you needed to add and didn't .....had to pay for an unnecessary other state tax ret

Easy and User Friendly

Turbo Tax is reliable, and easy to grasp the content. The way that the user is instructed to enter information is simple and does not take a long time to get started.
What's great about it: Information is easy to understand, and to enter into the return
What's not so great: The software is a bit slow in opening up the return
