Every year, Turbotax has some surprises. There are sections that require entering information that are a complete mystery and unclear. There is no explanation or tab that would provide more information on what to enter. There was one or two occasions where I had to open up the actual return to get a better idea of what the entry should be. When you enter something one should feel confident that it is completely clear and understood. There was one or two times when I just had to guess what it was asking. This didn't make me feel confident.
What's great about it: Creates all docs for return
What's not so great: not all entries clear and easy to undersytand.

TT2013

In general, TT 2013 again meets my needs with the easy guide feature by walking me through the whole process with very intuitive questions. Everything is great except for the following:
1. Turbo Tax Community on the right pane should not redirect to a new browser window. Instead I would recommend to redesign it like a Microsoft Excel or Windows search feature where the answers are inside the application pane. May be it would be as easy as looking up the TT data base server and displaying them on the pane instead of popping up a browser window.
2. Allow to print state E-filing receipt like Federal E-filing.
What's great about it: TT 2013 easy gude is great, just follow and gather info.
What's not so great: Turbo tax community on the right pane opens a new browser window
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Did K-1s and all kinds of complex calculations. Like it a lot. Also works with Macs and PCs
What's great about it: Remembers last year's data and is thorough
What's not so great: The price keeps rising
Pros: I moved

It gets easyier every year!

Approaching tax day every year was always a cause for concern and stress. I have been using Turbo Tax for over 5 years and was very satisfied with the results, and it continues to improve each year. I love the way prior year date is retrieved and inserted in the current year processing. Detailed and easy to use instructions make the process easy to understand.
What's great about it: Ease of use and easy to understand instructions and error detection procedures.
What's not so great: Can't thinl of any cons.

TurboTax gets easier by the year! Importing last years information makes it a snap! No repetitive data entry. Calculations show tax bottom line on top of the screen while you work. You can see how your entries affect your bottom line!.
What's great about it: Maximum refund, instant feedback while working
What's not so great: Getting a little pricey

filing returns

For years you have made it difficult to e-file the fed, but not e-file the state.
After e-filing the fed., your program does not flow into an option for the state. It goes to exit. you have to back up and go through the process again, and put up with the errors that arise because you have already e-filed the fed.
After e-filing the fed, your program should go to a page that says: "Do you want to file your state now?" And then give the option to e-file or mail the state.
I always e-file my fed, but mail my state. I have been dealing with this problem for years. Please fix it.
I have been using TT for over 20 years, I still have my 1994 TT package and all the years since then.
(I know, I should probably throw some of these away.)
What's not so great: efile fed. & mailing state does NOT flow well!

Whose Fault is it , Really?

I get down to file... and I have to PAY in advance to efile and THEN.. after required payment..... I can't file because I don't KNOW the SS number of a guy that paid me interest. I was honest. I reported it.... but why should I have to get HIS SS number? him? Why should I have to furnish some other person's SS number... plus... why didn't Turbo Tax let me know BEFORE I paid with a credit card for efile? Then... I somehow resolve this and I still can't efile because it says I have to update... I do... still can't efile and have I mentioned I already PAID to efile. I want more, upfront, clearer information.
What's great about it: Fill in the blanks... I like that
What's not so great: Don't tell you everything. Need an understandable overview of 'things' like itemizing versus not.
