GETS EASIER EACH YEAR

DIDN'T NEED ANY ADDITIONAL SUPPORT, AS EXPLANATIONS WERE RIGHT THERE . i AM NO TECHIE, AND IT WAS SO EASY FOR ME, IT ' S CLEAR THAT ANY OF US COMPUTER-CHALLENGED SOULS CAN DO IT!
What's great about it: IMPORTING LAST YEAR'S RETURN INFO, IDENTIFYING EACH ENTRY IN DETAIL, BEING ABLE TO STOP AT ANY POINT AND RETURN LATER
What's not so great: SERIOUSLY, NONE

Not as smooth as prior years

Normally, I have nothing but praise for TurboTax, but this year was rather frustrating.
More than once there were two radio button options to pick from, but both were selected. Clicking on either one had no effect - I had to hit Continue, then Back twice, then Continue from the prior page.
Additionally, the "check for errors" step complained about multiple blanks that needed to be zeroes (when I had never gone anywhere near a step wherein I could've entered that zero) and zeroes that should've been left blank (which I would have expected to be warned about when entering that zero originally). And then it insisted I needed a PIN for e-filing my state return when I was printing and mailing that one.
But most frustrating was the fact that the number of multi-step screens I went through to no effect. Maybe I missed it, but more than once it seemed like the software could have pointed out that itemizing my home office or house sale or similar wasn't going to amount to anything. Not unless there was something significant about what I was doing - similar to how the medical expense section points out just how big the expense has to be to matter.
And in the case of the house sale, the moment my purchase price was higher than my sale price, it should have stopped me from entering any improvement or similar details - I wasn't going to get anything back.
All in all, everything worked in the end. The return looks good and so on. But it took quite a bit longer this year than in the past - and I honestly had some trepidation when those error-check bugs kept cropping up.
What's great about it: Lots of entry details, ability to see forms directly, e-filing functionality
What's not so great: Multiple bugs
Pros: I moved

Filinh 2013 Tax Return with TurboTax

I've used TurboTax many years but this is the first time I've experienced software errors while completing the forms.
1) After completing most of the federal questions I received a "need to update the federal forms" message, click skip or download forms". I selected "download" - the download experienced some error and did not complete successfully. Could not launch TurboTax after that, I had to re-installed the product.
2) After completing all forms, federal and state, and during the filing process, I received a "could not save file" message, "Error 124". I before I could try the solution, I clicked "OK" to the error message and I was able to continue without additional errors.
Never had anything like this before!!
What's great about it: Convenient and easy to use
What's not so great: Errors during the process

Last 2 years I completed Turbo Tax online after many years of getting the CD or download, only to find out last year that my info isn't saved online and I have to input every detail from scratch which was terribly time consuming. So I switched back this year to a download to save more info and found some of last year's info came over, but it was not all correct. I'm looking fwd to next year getting the download and having all my correct info upload and save a lot of time. Overall I love the product though.
What's great about it: able to complete all info in one day even with business, home office, stocks, and multiple jobs
What's not so great: old info was not all correct
