TurboTax is the Only Way to Go

As a TurboTax user for over 20 plus years, never disappointed. Great assistance and really comprehensive.

This is great and worth the money and time. You don't need to know too much accounting to use Turbo Tax. It is also worth buying the Audit Defense package,,,at least it gives me the peace of mind. Once you do it the first time, it is easier in subsequent years.
What's great about it: easy to follow and online help was useful
What's not so great: sometimes the business part got confusing with terms

A little clunky, but got the job done

TurboTax made taxes super easy. There really should be a walkthrough rules engine like this provided by the government for free - it makes the process infinitely easier than researching random tax forms.
That said, I found the interface to be clunky: forms didn't behave natively (selecting the State dropdown and typing the first few letters of your state, for example, didn't work), the flow of advancing through menus gets confusing if you ever go back to redo something, and it was missing some native Mac OS X features.
It got the job done, though! I'd definitely use it again if a better product didn't surface. As far as I can tell, though, there aren't any competitors.
What's great about it: TurboTax knows its stuff on taxes
What's not so great: The UX was clunky

BEST WAY TO FILE

I have been using turbo tax for years to do pretty complicated returns (business and investments). I have no finance or tax background but now I feel I can pretty much do any taxes. Turbo walks you through it and explains each step. It is accurate and easy to use. Better than a tax prep service.
What's great about it: Easy to use, turns you into a tax pro
What's not so great: none
