Easiest Way to Do Your Taxes - Period!

It might seem a bit expensive when you buy it, but it is worth every penny and then some. Easy to use. A great product!
What's great about it: Walks you through EVERYTHING! I also love that it remembers last year's return, minimizing repetative data entry.
What's not so great: None!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2014 Turbo Tax Review
on April 7, 2014
Posted by: LuvFrance
from Manasas, Virginia
Have been using Turbo Tax for years. Very comfortable using it and trust that it is helping us to file an accurate return.
My husband is retired but now has a small business. Home and Business has been great. We were ready to use a CPA a few years ago but the Home and Business edition has been so easy to use. You know what deductions you can take and cannot take. Love the alerts and review for errors!
What's great about it: Guides you through everything. Lots of support
What's not so great: Cost Basis process for sale of mutual funds was a bit tricky. Hard to understand but finally figured it out.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Definitely download the software

I would definitely recommend downloading the software for individuals who may need to run several different options in order to determine which filing details will be most beneficial. With the online version, you can't save multiple version and have serious limitations in flexibility.
What's great about it: flexibility in filing status
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Concise Program

First year filing a return as a Sole Member LLC. Would like to see business expense category "Inventory" renamed and/or reclassified to state cost of goods produced for those who do not carry physical inventory.
What's great about it: Mostly covered all topics
What's not so great: One Topic needs to be renamed
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Worst Year for TurboTax
on April 7, 2014

The interface is getting clunky. It really needs an overhaul to make going back and forth between pages more intuitive rather than skipping back to the beginning of an entire section.
Furthermore, it wouldn't let me file Ohio because the program had a bug relating to the Ohio SD100ES School District Tax forms saying they weren't ready from the state yet, when even Intuit's own website said they were. Once they *finally* fixed that bug on 3/31, it still didn't allow anywhere to put in the estimated SD100ES payments that had been made; even after I found the place on the forms manually and put in my estimated payments, TurboTax still said I owed the entire amount plus interest from last year's SD100ES which isn't true.
I've used TurboTax for ten years, with a short break using TaxCut for a few years when TurboTax started installing DRM malware on computers. (Once they stopped that practice I went back because I always liked TurboTax better than TaxCut.) However, this year TurboTax has been downright awful to use. If I have any more problems like this for TY2014 I will just switch to TaxCut again.
What's great about it: Beats going through the forms manually
What's not so great: Interface getting clunky, Ohio SD100ES Failure

I enjoy using TurboTax and it makes sure I cover it all.
What's great about it: Quick succinct
What's not so great: It costs but way less than a paid preparer
Pros: I bought or sold investments
