Average Turbo Tax Performance
on March 30, 2014

I've been using Turbo Tax for a number of years. As an experienced user, I always choose the "explore on my own" option. In many categories, you have to click through several question screens before numbers can be entered. The first time data is entered for a category, this is fine. However, if you are fine tuning your returns (for example, you found a forgotten receipt), you have to click through all the screens again to get back to the dollar screens.
I think Turbo Tax should be able to remember and summarize your entry information and only ask you if you want to change the information.
What's great about it: Consistency
What's not so great: Too Many Questions

I'm a CPA but not a tax expert by any means. I've been using Turbo tax for 15 years and have never had a problem!
Ease of use and ability to research areas is excellent.
Just wish looking back to my history could be done within current year software.
What's great about it: ease of use, guidance excellent
What's not so great: looking back to prior years difficult
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall, a very helpful and comprehensive software program. It seems like it could handle most anything the small business owner and simple investor could need.

Have been using Turbo Tax since 2008. Have always been impressed with the thoroughness of the program, Had some trouble with the import feature for 2012 information that can be used on 2013 return.
What's great about it: Liked the positive feedback on finishing a section.
What's not so great: Not easy to understand some categories.

Easy to navigate, step by step process to help fill out needed information. When I had a question, it was right there at my fingertips. Fast, friendly service. Lots of references as well to assist with filling out the forms. I'll be back next year.

Mac version issue
on March 30, 2014
Posted by: Billttaxuser
When beginning a new return, this year's Mac version presented no obvious button to click on in order to transfer last year's TurboTax information into this year's return. I had to force it by attempting to open my 2012 return with the 2013 software. Then I was presented with the transfer button. The on-line help files were not useful, except to explain the difference between "import" and "transfer". I had to struggle for a half hour to figure this out.
What's great about it: Otherwise functioned normally
What's not so great: Had to struggle to "transfer" last year's info into my new return
