I have used TurboTax now for many years, and love it for simple calculations. Tax law is, however, getting far too complicated. Please take the time with your instructions to simplify if you can, and ensure yourselves that instructions are really simple. Most all of us are not accountants, tax lawyers, IRS savvy people. So, I for one keep wondering if I interpret correctly, if I am placing numbers in the right place, not repeating deductions elsewhere or doing it twice or more, etc.
What's great about it: Focused help is very good
What's not so great: Tax returns are simply getting far too complex & out of control

2013 TurboTax Review

the ACH "thing" kinda confused me... don't remember seeing that before (in the e-filing info gathering window) - also the boxes for the banking info were so light it was difficult to see the box borders and where to place my cursor.
I like the detailed explanations. One detail I didn't notice was a general guideline as to what the penalties can be (as a % or $ amounts) if one failed to pay estimated taxes... probably applies too specifically to individuals I suppose.
That's about it. I will be using TurboTax again.
What's great about it: I like it.... used it for several years now.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easiest Return Yet

I have used TurboTax for several years now. I can't say exactly why but it took only 2 hours to prepare my home and business return instead of 4 or more hours in the past. The number of entries seemed about the same and my return was very similar to the previous year. but it went much quicker.
As usual, importing last years return and W2s makes it easy to see that everything is being covered. I like the comparisons to the previous year.
What's great about it: The process went very fast and easy.
What's not so great: None

Anyone can do this!

I've been using turbo tax since 1994. Both Sole Proprietors and just simple EZ1040's with the W-2's. I love how it guides me step by step through all the categories. They think of everything!
What's great about it: Easy, fast and covers everything
What's not so great: Need a secure place to store my files
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Why would I except an Education Credit when my IRA contribution was greater? It wasn't until I already filed my return that I realized that my $5000 contribution meant zilch!! Not cool!
What's great about it: Quick and Easy!
What's not so great: Did not maximize my credits!...

I would recommend Turbo Tax to friends. Finding answers to some questions is difficult, but all in all a positive experience.
What's great about it: Liked being led like a baby through all the steps.
What's not so great: Sometimes it is hard to find answers to my questions.

I have problems every year with marking things for our son. He is an adult who became 100 % blind and I do not understand the disability rules or the rules for a long term disability policy paid by his former employer.
What's great about it: easy to do
What's not so great: need more information on disability and long term insurance

Easily put together my refund

I like not having to spend twice as much to go to an accountant to file my Personal and Business Taxes. Like keeping the $$$ in my pocket. Easy to use and I love being able to E-File both Federal & State taxes.
What's great about it: Like being able to put together the files without the Step by Step.
What's not so great: Entering payment info twice. Should have one check out for all payments on items.
