I have used TurboTax for many years. Easy of transferring old data to new year helps a lot. Easy to follow leads to entering business data for both income and deductions.
What's great about it: TurboTax has great details regarding small business tax features.
What's not so great: Had one problem finding a reference in one of the entries during data entry.
With 2 rental properties and multiple deductions and depreciation, a vacancy and expenses; easy to do. IRA 72T distribution with no tax penalty; worked great!! Found deductions in Fed and State I was not aware of.
What's great about it: Loaded last years depreciation schedule and all needed info. Easy
All in all easy to use. However I got a changed 1099misc and I couldn't figure out how to change the numbers so I ended up doing a whole new tax form. Everthing else is easy as long as you have your stuff organized ahead of time - like deductions and expenses.
What's great about it: went fairly quickly
What's not so great: hard to change after I filled in numbers
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
I am happy for how many years I have been using Turbo Tax, I didn't find any problem putting all the information needed for my returns. Turbo Tax saves me from getting stressed out because I don't have to do the calculations. I feel confident in the professionals guidance.
I will continue to use TurboTax and I thank you so much for the great job your professionals are doing.
What's great about it: Gave me confidence & peace of mind. No more stress & helped me to get back my hard earned money.
What's not so great: I think there was one item that I wanted to change but would not let me although it was okay.
It would be nice to see a visual map of the path taken in previous year(s) and what to expect this year. The listings of associated and related documents is nice but a bit confusing when wondering, for example, how mortgage interest is treated (Interest received from the escrow account versus paid for the mortgage). In total, I love Turbo Tax and the fact it loads info from previous years filling in account info, etc.
What's great about it: Walked through each step
What's not so great: Like a blind maze in some portions
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
I have a "Tax Letter" that tells me to enter this and that into a form. They don't send a schedule K.
It is hard to find the form and had to find where to put it. Could you have a search function where you put the form name in and either it or it's worksheet pops up?
When you return from forms, it would be nice to be back where you were prior to leaving the interview.
I have been using TurboTax since the DOS days, can you believe it.
I think the the US should stop taxing income and start taxing money movement. If it is good enough for the credit card companies, it is good for the USA. It would put you out of business.
What's great about it: The interview gets better every year
