We are generally very happy and grateful to TurboTax for its help in figuring out our taxes each year. This year though, under Governor Kasich's new law, the State of Ohio apparently allows for a small business investor income deduction for which we qualified. TurboTax helped us to establish that we qualified for the deduction but then asked us to use a worksheet downloaded from our state's website to figure out the deduction amount ourselves. I thought that was not the most helpful and inconsistent with the type of services we usually expect to see when using TurboTax.
What's great about it: I have my own business so I trust TurboTax to help me through all the business tax calculations
What's not so great: I needed help this year to calculate my business deductions under our state's new law but had to do so on my own
I've been using Turbo Tax for many years now. It's always helped me to complete my taxes to the point of my satisfactrion. Not only does it keep me up on current tax information, I can rest assured that it will be done properly and without error. I would recommed this product to anyone who want to take their taxes into their own hands. It gives you all the avenues to properly prepare your individual/business taxes year after year.
What's great about it: Ease of Use!
What's not so great: None that anyone should have
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Some steps are not verified, so I have to go look through the forms to see if they are done. For example, I had to search the forms to see if qualified dividends were considered. They were.
What's great about it: EASY TO USE
What's not so great: STEPS TAKEN NOT EASILY DETERMINED
Overall, I thought TurboTax provided a good product for me to use. I had a few questions as I was going through the return and I did not have any problems getting support assistance and they were able to walk me through the issue I had with relative ease. The only down I saw in using the software was at times I thought the navigation seemed a little bulky when I was trying to review just certain items that had been previously input. For instance, if working on a rental property expense type, I didn't see a good way to review the expense and then return directly to the list of rental properties without having first to review all of the expense pages for that property. It may be I was missing an easy way to do it, but it seemed to me if they had an additional button on some of the pages that would automatically return you to that item's main topic page it might make it a quicker navigation process. I am sure I will be a return user next year.
What's great about it: Fairly easy working through the process, Support when I was having a problem
What's not so great: At times I thought navigation through the program could work more efficiently
Turbo Tax is the best. Been using it forever...since we started our business in 2000...I can file with confidence knowing Turbo Tax has checked my forms for errors and they make e-filing so easy! I wouldn't know how to do taxes with them!
What's great about it: Everything is there from last year - makes double checking easier
Program walks you through each step with ease. It even tries to identify rare situations that may apply to your tax return.
The only problem was a glitch that would not accept a zip code for education. Nothing seemed to fix the problem and was offered to delete that section of return which throws off return numbers.
Still happy with product overall.
What's great about it: Walks you through the return in logical manner
What's not so great: Glitch would not let return be electronically filed
