I've been using Turbo Tax for years now, my returns get more complex every year. Turbo Tax makes them seem easy. Fast Intuitive. easy to use. Jus the best Tax software out there.
What's great about it: Almost automatic
What's not so great: Can't think of any
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
It's very detailed, which is good. But there are a few areas that need improvement. I pay personal property tax on a manufactured home. It is difficult to find where to list it. And when it came time to file. The server was busy for a few hours. Every time I came back to try to Efile, I had to go thru several pages first. Please change that.
What's not so great: deifficult to return the page needed.
I had many questions, but every time I spoke with TurboTax representatives they answered my questions. They also took the time to allow me to express my uncertainties without making me feel that my questions were unintelligent. I loved the excellent customer service. It was truly refreshing. Thank you
What's great about it: Representatives were outstanding
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Overall it was a good program. The only problem I had was finding my way back to s single subject to fix. Also in the review process there needs be more info on what is wrong and suggestions on how to fix it or what need to be done. I was stunped on few topics. All in all easy to use. Thank YOU
What's great about it: lots of questions
What's not so great: finding mor info on a single subject and getting back to it
I've used TurboTax for many, many years, all with a great experience and results. This year was different. I purchased and loaded TurboTax 2013 from the product CD on my laptop last winter and did what I could to prepare. But there were delays in getting K-1s to me, so I had to file for extension. I finally got the k-1s in July, but by then my old laptop was suffering a lot of hardware failures so I had put it on the shelf and had replaced it with a new laptop. Then I loaded my TurboTax 2013 to it using the serial number that came with the CD. Then loaded the tax data file from my backup disk and completed my tax return (1040#. So far so good. But when I tried to print #for which TurboTax uses Adobe pdf files#, the adobe software gave a message that no pages had been selected for print. Over the following weeks I tried every trick I knew, went to forums for info, took the pdf files to other computers I have and friends have. All yielded the same results -- a message that said no pages selected for print. So by now I was suspecting that TurboTax is setting some hidden attribute in the output pdf file that was causing the print blocking. So I recovered by old laptop, did some work to get it back functioning #minimally) again, copied the turbotax file to the laptop, started TurboTax, and printed without a single problem. The pdf file output by TurboTax would not print on ten different computers I tried, but worked perfectly on my old laptop. The only difference is the old laptop had the original load from my TurboTax CD, and the pdf file had been output by the second copy of turbotax I loaded to my new laptop. You need to fix this problem in TurboTax, You have to give the user some sort of message when one attempts to print the tax file if Turbo tax has concluded it will not output a printable pdf file, and the reason why. What I have learned from this experience is all the many prior year turbotax CDs I have been saving in case I needed to get back into the original tax return file are useless if I want to print anything.
What's great about it: User interface is consistently the same as prior years. Didn't have to spend time relearning how to use Turbotax.
What's not so great: Printing of return took a very long time to make work.
