I DID IT!

Thank you TurboTax! I never thought I would be able to do my taxes on my own, but my friend recommended this program and was right. I have fairly complicated taxes due to working in multiple states and I have a ton of write-offs. TurboTax walked me through everything, step by step, and I only got stumped a couple of times. I presume next year it will be easier for me since I have learned a little this year! I started late Sunday night (including itemizing all my deductions) and worked a couple hours every day and finished today (Friday)! Not too bad. Worth the $500 or more I saved not using my accountant. Plus got great Federal and State refunds! I am so proud of myself and so happy to be finished! I did triple check my return and found small mistakes that I had made so do be sure to check and recheck!
What's great about it: Cost less than my accountant
What's not so great: Takes more time
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easiest way to do taxes short of getting a CPA

I have used TurboTax and Quicken for many years. I find importing from Quicken makes tax filling much easier. I don't miss deductions anymore. I recommend both to anyone who does not have the time track all their finances. I used to spend hours every month balancing the check book and staying on top all the bills. Now I spent less than 30 min. paying bills, balancing my check book is a thing of the past. It takes less than a minute to reconcile my checking account. Can't remember the last time it did not reconcile.
With that said, importing into TurboTax makes inputing data a breeze. I love that TurboTax checks my return for errors before I submit it.
I highly recommend TuroTax.

What's great about it: Eay to use
What's not so great: Tax code is complex and finding all the info you need to enter can be time consuming

Some of the wording is hard to decipher. Working from home and having a "home office" are two different things. It's hard to figure out which one
What's great about it: Saves you filling out the long forms, easier format than the State/Fed issued booklet
What's not so great: Can be confusing - had to refer to long form at times.

Good value for price. I would not do my return any other way. I have been using TurboTax for several years.
What's great about it: Was overall easy to use.
What's not so great: Loading K-1 infromation was a little confusing.

I WILL use TT again next year because of the incredible pleasantness exhibited by the agents. While not all were able to research as diligently, several others tried and were successful in finding answers and helped ME to find them. I was told I MUST buy the CD to import from Quicken; returned home with my purchase to find an email from David at TT saying he'd sent a link so I could download the CD without extra cost. That was a bit extra. Still, as I've never before done taxes on my own, TT was quite an asset and the agents helped without being impatient.! That made my headache bearable!!!
What's great about it: EVERY Turbo agent was unfailingly polite.
What's not so great: Some agents not as knowledgeable, of corse.

Stress Free Taxes

This is my third year using Turbo-Tax having always used a tax preparing service before. The difference is night and day. It's a fraction of the cost, no more work (than preparing to visit the preparer) and most importantly a MUCH bigger refund.
Its not scary at all - DO IT !

What's not so great: Had to manually retrieve some numbers from last year that you could have brought forward.

Works great! Very quick and easy filing with Turbo Tax. Just have your information ready and answer questions and your return is completed.
What's great about it: Fast!
