Almost painless
on April 11, 2014

Overall, the TurboTax experience went very well. The one issue I had as a minister was when entering my housing allowance. Because my data was imported from last year, I wasn't prompted to enter my housing allowance. Once I went back and confirmed a second time the details about this self-employed job, the software prompted for the housing allowance due to the entered business code. That issue caused me some head scratching, but other than that one problem, the experience was painless. Job well done!
What's great about it: Imported last years data accurately so I was already ahead of the game. Very quick and intuitive except for one wrinkle
What's not so great: Minor issue as a minister when entering my housing allowance.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

It was fairly easy to complete my returns but I was not happy about the fact that the information from 2012 could not be transferred to this return even though it had been saved.
What's great about it: fairly easy
What's not so great: wouldn't transfer last years return info

After certain state package purchased switched online and computer is switched to another one , program still asks for another purchase of the same state package. then stuck there.
What's not so great: program keeps asking to buy same state package
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good experience! The only thing that was a little confusing was how Royalties are handled.
What's great about it: Guided through step by step
What's not so great: Probably didn't need Business edition

Very, very helpful! Turbo tax greatly reduces the time I need to complete my taxes.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax usually knows what I don't know.
What's not so great: It's sometimes difficult to figure out how to change incorrect entries.

filed my schedule c taxes
on April 11, 2014

great way to file my taxes, have used since the 1990's.
first year to file schedule c for a profitable business with more involved paperwork.
cons are that when you do the step by step you don't know where that info is going on the actual forms without switching to forms mode. kinda scary when you don't know how that info is being used.
educational expense form was confusing.
When itemizing it would be nice to have a running total of the deductions as you go to evaluate whether you have enough or are better off using the standard deduction.
when entering business assets would have been nice to enter all at once instead of one at a time
What's great about it: cheaper than CPA, simply step by step
What's not so great: would help to have reference to line numbers on forms when answering questions in step by step
