Turbotax error checking

The only think I did not like about turbotax was that after answering all of those questions, it went through areas that needed me to put input again where I had already entered my answers. It asked me the same questions again which was very time consuming and some of the questions were not explained enough as why I am inputing my answers again.

As painless as it can get

This is my third year using TurboTax and I'm still amazed at how systematic and straightforward the process is. Plus I have the confidence thaI all appropriate deductions have been taken and I've not overpaid my taxes. As a bonus, for a small extra fee, TurboTax will support me in the event of an audit. Such a deal! My only complaint is that when I tried to enter a small amount of income from patent royalties, TurboTax insisted that I must be self-employed and therefore liable for self-employment tax. I am not self-employed, (I'm retired), the patents are owned by my former employer and I receive a small share of the royalties as inventor. It took most of a day to find a way of reporting this income appropriately which is why I've rated the experience as four (not five) stars.
What's great about it: Just supply the requested information, step by step and, miraculously, the return is organized and ready for filing.
What's not so great: Didn't handle royalty income well.

Even an English Major Can Do Taxes with Turbo Tax

I do taxes for 3 people with Turbo Tax, one of which is complicated as all income comes from investments. Two of the returns involve freelance business as well. Not only have we saved the cost of an accountant but we have also realized savings overall. If I can do it with my right-brain tendencies, most anyone can.
What's great about it: Step-by-step, easy-to-understand instructions.
What's not so great: Can't think of any.

Turbo tax review home and business

I like turbotax but have some items in mind. I really had a hard time entering foreign taxes paid. I kept going around in a circle...Ended up calling turbo tax to get thru it....Could be improved. Last year I had an almost similar experience. Ie going around in circles on the foreign tax. Another item wa the review told me of errors that I really didn't understand. The page only gave me insufficient information to answer the questions. The program should be designed to ask those questions while going through it, or make better explanations of the errors so I would understand what they wanted. Customer service was really great. Ms Nia was very courteous and patient in solving the problem I had.
What's great about it: Automatically updates as changes are made
What's not so great: Asked question about form entries on review instead of while doing the program

I have been using TurboTax since it first came out in the late '80s or early '90s. I wouldn't do my taxes any other way. Thanks for a consistently great product.

we are a complicated self-employed, and a tax acct. told me to use this because it asks better questions and finds things he would likely miss!
