This is the 12th year using Turbo Tax and I still love it! I have my own business and have upgraded to that version and it takes me through all the items that are needed. Thank you so much!
What's great about it: So easy to go through the prompts!
What's not so great: Can't think of any cons!

I use Turbo Tax year after year and I feel confident when I file. If there's something I don't understand, there's an explanation that is clear.
What's great about it: Step by step, understandable explainations

Disappointed with Turbo Tax this year

I needed to go back a few times, even after paying for the STATE tax forms. So far I have not yet filed (as far as I know) because I needed to go back once more and it took me back to a section, not to the page prior. I didn't want to pay twice so I skipped ahead to this review. No idea if I have filed. Also, I start hyperventilating when I don't get to change the 1040 to delete bank account information before getting to the review section. If there is a refund, the numbers should still be reviewed before a person gets that far in the process and, if taxes are DUE, that section should blank out altogether. I don't know what has happened. Hopefully I didn't pay for some expedited service. You were not clear when loading all those payment options on.
What's great about it: Helps me to look for all the necessary information
What's not so great: Hard to maneuver this year

I use Turbo Tax every year because I feel confident i have filed my taxes correctly. The questions and the guidance it offers helps me get through a complicated task quickly.
What's great about it: I feel turbo tax guides me correctly through the tax filing process.
What's not so great: I would sometimes like to ask a live person about topics I feel unsure about.

Been using for many years, and seemed like this year was a breeze. They have really worked out some of the kinks from previous years I think.
What's great about it: Had NO problems this year, program was really simplified from years past!
What's not so great: No Cons

Great Experience

It really simplifies things to import last year's personal data and all the forms so you don't have to retype. having the reminders of what you listed in each area last year alerts you to go find that missing 1099 and gives you a sanity check on what you enter this year. Downloading all the stock data directly from my broker to the right forms saved me a ton of time. Not having to learn all the business forms saved a lot of reading. The encouraging hints and details gave me a lot of confidence that I wasn't just being dumb when I didn't understand what the tax form was getting at.
What's great about it: Interview covers everything, importing personal & stock great, electronic filing
What's not so great: Can't think of any
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

E File

Totally frustrating to go through the whole process and then the E file won't go through! Now I have to print, pay for postage and go to the Post Office. Totally unhappy.
What's not so great: Didn't go through even with the update!

Good program but disappointing in a few ways
on April 11, 2014

I purchased the Home & Business version thinking that it would have a lot of guidance on complex issues and items that have multiple ways by which to take deductions. For instance education expenses. There are a number of ways to reap tax benefits from education costs, but even the home and business version does not provide support for determining whether the expense is appropriate to use as a schedule A employee expense or as a business expense deduction. This was very disappointing to discover. I am just so grateful that I read the applicable IRS publication. Another thing...the program does not walk you through the option of claiming scholarships (even those used to pay qualified education costs) as income. My daughter had a $15K dollar scholarship, most of which went towards qualified education expenses. By claiming it as income (which was then reduced by her exemption and standard deduction), she was able to get $1,000 of the refundable credit in her pocket. That is money that would have been left on the table if I had followed the program's guidance. The program also does not seem to support taking a deduction for a dependent that is only "disabled" for purposes of Form 2441 dependent care deductions. AND this is the biggest one. I have been erroneously depreciating the entire value of my owner occupied rental property! The software allocates all the expenses EXCEPT depreciation! Yikes! Not a fun thing to find out when you get audited. With all that said, I still like the product. You just have to be careful if you are dealing with some of the more complex issues. My lesson learned is...read the applicable publications to make sure the software is doing what you want it to do.
What's great about it: Solid program for straightforward situations; carries over information from prior year
What's not so great: Not so reliable on some of the more complex issues
Pros: I bought or sold investments
