What is prior depreciation? I never found an understandable explanation in Turbo Tax. It was a deep aggravation. I got more insight from Internet searches. The 2013 tax return was going well, then this portion was unworkable.
What's great about it: Most instructions and examples understandable
What's not so great: Highly technical entries are not easy to understand, not simplified.
Wish you could click on the number in the box on the 1040 and it would take to where that number can from. Also other Forms as well. Your phone help was fabulous. Thanks I worked in a tax office for 5 years so I have experence with other tax software. I'll give it a B+
What's great about it: Liked the short cuts to see the information your working on. Especially the back button.
What's not so great: Wish you could click on the number in the box on the 1040 and it would take to where that number can from.
This has been the best quality and stable version in at least 4 years. Work is need on import from Quicken does not match quicken print view for schedule C or E Schedule K-1 Can not enter as received you have to break it into multiple k-1 for entry into Turbotax . Especially if you have line 1,2,3 filled out on the K-1 1098-T need more on the step by step assumes you have entrees in line 1 but practically many times there is data at the bottom of the form in turbotax you have to go to the form view to complete
What's great about it: works very well great improvement in stabiity and qualityl
What's not so great: needs more work on schedule E,C,k-1 and imports from quicken 1098-t
Almost everything worked great. The exception: I rent out a furnished home to vacationers. The menu prompting entries for furnishings that I bought this year led me to an office furniture depreciation schedule of 7 years. I knew that was not right. I called Turbo Tax, and the representative was able to re-direct me. Had I not known that the depreciation should be over 5 years, I would not have questioned the schedule. That said, good customer service!
What's great about it: Easy to use. Covers most situations
What's not so great: Confusing menu for rental property furnishings
I really like using turbo tax when filing as a trader with the following exception. I am able to directly download my trades (thousands of them) from gainskeeper to turbo tax and that is wonderful! The issue is how it handles the options that I sell short and let expire, I have to go back in and type a zero in for the cost basis for every one of them and it is not a short list. I really would love it if this could be fixed.
What's great about it: step by step instruction and easy
What's not so great: There is a defect in the way it handles short options that expire and will ask for cost basis on every trade.
