I am pleased. I have a pretty complicated return and takes more than one sitting. I like that I can save and return to continue multiple times. I like the review for errors.

I have been using TurboTax for years! I love it! I own my own business and filing couldn't be easier. I would recommend it to anyone wanting an affordable and easy way to file their taxes.
What's great about it: Easy to understand
What's not so great: I wish it was a bit more affordable

The only real DIY game in town

TT is the big dog in DIY tax returns. I have seamlessly moved from one version of TT to others as my tax situation has changed from W-2 based to small business to retired. Auto-load of past year data as inputs to the current year are great and represent perhaps the reason people get locked in to Intuit products year after year. Download of data from brokerages greatly simplifies and eliminates a lot of tedious work when there are a lot of transactions to deal with. I use it and do my own taxes because the real time and work of preparing a return is collecting all of the records and substantiating data to go into a return. For me this is protracted process that continues as I progress through the myriad of TT questions and prompts. Without these prompts, I'd simply miss out on many deductions and increase my tax bill. I have a hard time imagining how I'd do this with a hired accountant.
What's great about it: Automated functions take the tedium out of preparing returns
What's not so great: So big and complex that there isn't enough time to debug it completely.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Tax software gets better every year
on April 12, 2014

It was a great experience again this year. I'm always reminded of something I may otherwise have missed (or the tax guys I used to go to would miss!). I definitely feel comfortable using Turbo Tax to complete my taxes. There's always something that causes me some grief, but mostly due to my own lack of preparation... next year will be better! As far as the software goes, it makes it easy! I even was able to quickly fill in my small side business info for added deductions! The import from previous years is awesome and pulling info from financial institutions is absolutely seamless. Great job!
What's great about it: Thorough and accurate, Import abilities
What's not so great: Flow from one section to another not always easy
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2106 W-2 "L" Code Entry
on April 12, 2014

I am in the transportation industry, specifically airline aircrew and always have trouble with the 2106 form. More information needs to be added about what to do with W-2 "L" code. If an "L" coded amount is on the W-2 why does it not automatically transfer to the 2106? Every year I always have to go to the actual forms to make sure I do it right. In the past I have not entered the "L" code amount which significantly increased my return but it was an error caused by the poor instructions of Turbo Tax. I am fairly savvy with taxes and numbers and if I made that mistake I know thousands of others have too. To ensure that your guarantee is justified, you need to dramatically improve the instructions on the 2106.
What's not so great: 2106 Instructions for W-2 "L" Code

The IT-201-V and 1040-V forms are printed twice: as part of the tax returns printed and separately, after e-filing. This duplication is not necessary.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: Duplication of Payment Voucher Print
