2106 W-2 "L" Code Entry

I am in the transportation industry, specifically airline aircrew and always have trouble with the 2106 form. More information needs to be added about what to do with W-2 "L" code. If an "L" coded amount is on the W-2 why does it not automatically transfer to the 2106? Every year I always have to go to the actual forms to make sure I do it right. In the past I have not entered the "L" code amount which significantly increased my return but it was an error caused by the poor instructions of Turbo Tax. I am fairly savvy with taxes and numbers and if I made that mistake I know thousands of others have too. To ensure that your guarantee is justified, you need to dramatically improve the instructions on the 2106.

The IT-201-V and 1040-V forms are printed twice: as part of the tax returns printed and separately, after e-filing. This duplication is not necessary.

Know Your Taxes

I've had a preparer do my taxes for years but I never quite understood why I was paying what I was paying each year and how best to reduce my taxes. By using TurboTax I got an in depth look at all my income, taxes paid and potential deductions. It was quite an education and by doing it myself I was able to reduce the amount I usually pay. TurboTax took me through the process, step by step. I call it Filing Taxes 101!
What's great about it: Good education about the taxes you pay.
What's not so great: Time consuming

Couldn't Be Easier To Do My Taxes

This was my first year w/the Home & Business version, but TurboTax helped me deal with K-1's relatively easily. Also, I had to call the TurboTax help line and the individual I dealt with was knowledgeable and courteous.
What's great about it: Easy to move around in the program to input info based on my needs.
What's not so great: I had some issues with data imported from 2012 tax return.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Awesome Product

This product continues to be the best year after year. I own a small business and I don't want to pay the accounting fees. I was intimidated by tax filing until 3 years ago. Each year my tax submission is a bit more complicated but TurboTax continues to rise to challenge, walking me through every detail of my return and giving me the confidence that it's complete and accurate. Thank you, TurboTax!
