Just Average this year!

Overall Turbo tax is a great program and a great way to find all your deductions and complete your taxes. Unfortunately this year turbo automatically entered my 2012 Indiana Stare tax refund on line 10 of the 1040 form incorrectly. It appears from the help website that many other people have had similar problems with the state refund this year. To be fair, it looks like it has something to do with the fact that Indiana had an Automatic Taxpayer Refund Credit in 2012 which complicates the calculation. This is the first year I found an apparent error in Turbotax. Hopefully they will fix the bug soon.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Helps find deductions.
What's not so great: Entered incorrect 2012 state tax refund on Line 10 of 1040 form.

This program is very thorough in asking questions on every relevant topic. I've been using this for years and will continue in the future
What's great about it: Easy and very comprehensive

I had some very difficult problems, splitting my 4 investment rental condos into 2 different trusts, my main trust is on my 1040, the other on 1041. Also, dividing as of date of death of my spouse to obtain new values for depreciation purposes.
Reason; To avoid estate taxes , possibly in the future and update to market value as date of death.--explain why to the above. Thanks for the dedication & hard work by Mark A.

Less excellent this year

I've successfully used TurboTax for year, and have recommended it to many people. But this year, the program did not perform as well.
First, it would not intigate my information from the past year, even though everything is stored on my computer.
Secondly, this year it did not automatically update the new rules and policies. I had to go looking for how to do that, when it used to just happen.
Please don't let this wonderful program backslide!
What's great about it: most the directions are quite clear
What's not so great: this year my previous filings were not downloaded, nor were the updates automatically downloaded.
