I Can Count on TurboTax

I appreciate the value I get with TurboTax every single year. I especially like how TurboTax imports my info from the preceding year so I don't have to do tedious tasks like that. Thank you, TurboTax, for another good year of tax reporting made easier by your programs. Now, if you could only make sure the outcome was a refund.... But, alas, I guess I'll need to be the one to work on that for 2014's return.
What's great about it: Continuity year to year matters to me and TurboTax delivers. Wouldn't want to use any other means of doing my returns.
What's not so great: None really--a good experience all the way around!

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and I am happy it has been consistently great year to year. With all the crazy and scary tax laws. I only wish there where better help with wash sales as I got stuck for many hours and at last had to down load a program to figure out the mess. I suppose next years data from the brokerage house will be better as the IRS laws are forcing them to report the data. Until we have a n easy flat Tax I will continue to purchase Turbo Tax.

What's great about it: Easy to use and good help when you don't understand a form or issue.
What's not so great: Wish they had a calculator for wash sales. This is an area CPA's have a hard time agreeing on how the formula works.

Independence, at last !
That's how I felt, once I got into my first-time use of Turbo-Tax.
I actually enjoyed the experience!
What's great about it: The step-by-step completion guide was like having a seasoned tax expert at my side!
What's not so great: Can't think of any "cons" !

Easy and quick

I have used many programs. This is the easiest to use and quick. Having four kids, I don't want to spend a lot of time on my taxes. Turbotax is quick and easy.
What's great about it: Quick and easy
What's not so great: None

Incompetent Validation Process

While I was e-filing, I repeatedly got validation errors claiming there were updates available. However, there were no updates available in reality, but the program kept going through the process. I finally got it to work by closing the program and reopening it. Then it worked, but this should not be necessary. You should not even let someone get to the e-filing window without making sure all the updates have been downloaded.
Enormously frustrating and seriously bad programming.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Validation is seriously flawed and often incorrect

I love Turbotax, but this year I ended up doing my taxes over a 3 day period of time and when I went to file it would not allow me to. I updated everything several times but still no luck e-filing. Finally my husband told me to save my files close Turbotax, reopen it and try again. That worked but I would have never known to do that. The only other issue was the program would not allow me to correct something that kept coming up as wrong, I finally gave up, I could not find the schedule it was telling me about nor could I change the number, this was frustrating. But all in all I love the program
What's great about it: The program mostly helps me understand everything I do
What's not so great: the efiling procedure
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

For someone that has TWO masters degrees, I hate to say it, but I'm still pretty lame and I do need clarification at this every year. So, I really prefer specifics, detailed specifics, as if you are asking a five year old as to the information you are seeking when I have to refer to a prior year. Even the meaning of the words or document, as I am not a mathematician. Face it, I'm lame at this and I really cringe every year I do this and pray that I have not messed it up, even though I go through the review and you guys review and I submit my taxes. Just sayin....
I work and have a very "part time" business...
Overall, I learn about this, but I still pray about it every time.. LOL
