I have used TurboTax to do my own taxes for well over 25 years. Each year the process is the same, and I have confidence that TurboTax is taking care of the math and the process so that I can concentrate on the income and deductions. I have never had a problem with the software, and since the updates are available immediately, there is no concern on my part as to the accuracy of the program and the returns I submit. Thank you, TurboTax team for a great ongoing product.
What's great about it: Leads you through the process to be sure everything is covered, and up to the minute accurate!
I have spent HOURS trying to get your downloads to work. It is a total waste of time, especially when none of it applied to my return. You need to have a way to bypass the downloads. This ruins your whole products. VERY UNSATISFIED!!!!
What's not so great: Your downloads are HORRIBLE!!!!!
Love the product. Like how the program asks me for details I can include. I am glad I never have to attend another tax preparation class just to do my taxes...
What's great about it: I don't have to be a tax expert to make my way through my taxes.
What's not so great: Thought purchase included free state e-filing
It's very confusing. When you have a new rental property the 1st yr. It's very confusing to entered the new property acquiring cost in one place; and when you are on the mortgage financing area, you are asking the same informations you already entered. Data are doubling up, so you are getting inaccurate Schedule E. It is just confusing.
My 22yr old daughters used my program to do their taxes for the first time this year. The questions for most of the sections are easy to follow or have helpful explanations that they were able to answer on their own with just a little input from me. (I've been using Turbo Tax for all but 2 of the last 20 years.) The only real complaint I have is about the redundancy of some questions. ex. When filling out for business income, even after answering that there is no business or farm income, we still get questioned about our business or farm. Seems like if we say something didn't exist, the program wouldn't keep asking about it. Other than that, I have had good results with TT and continue to use it year after year.
What's great about it: easy to follow step by step guide for each section
What's not so great: a little too redundant at times
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
