almost there but interview is still botched

Too bad the interview caused me to screw up a few times on cars, home office, HSA and other sharing issues.
What's great about it: better than a greedy accountant
What's not so great: interview not great for sole proprietors with multiple businesses

10th year with turbotax...won't use any other!

Thanks for making tax filing easy for the past 10 years. It's still not enjoyable, but a whole lot easier than it used to be.

Installation is quick and easy. I've been using Turbo Tax for a while. My personal information and financial institutions are imported into the right worksheets and forms for you from the previous year's Turbo Tax software. It saves a lot of typing. I like that you can choose how to fill out the forms. You can choose from an easy guide or browse on your own or switch back and forth. With the easy guide, the software fills in the form by answering questions pertaining to your tax situation. You can choose to browse through the different parts of the return on your own. When you are done, Turbo Tax software will review your return for errors.It's great that Turbo Tax will even e-file your return for you. Filing is very easy and quick from start to finish.

TurboTax is stepping stones in a swamp.

US Taxes are complex, especially for a very small business. I'm an electrical engineer working out of my house. Don't have time to read all the IRS pubs. TurboTax leads me through it in relatively easy steps. Last time I tried to use another tax software package (years ago) most of the things that I needed help with as regards my small business I was told to look at IRS
What's great about it: Much faster and more accurate thatn trying to read all the IRS Pubs and doing it by hand.
What's not so great: Sometimes it's not totally clear what's gong on.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

A great product!

The program holds your hand as it walks you through the tax forms. I loved finding out what deductions I almost missed this year by using the tax summary comparison tools for previous years. I was a little frustrated in a few places when I wanted to know a definition of a term such as MCTD (in New York) and the like. I had to search the internet for my answers. So a little more click to get a definition of the current item would be appreciated. Don't know if it already exists but a list of business categories for expenses to use in Quicken would be helpful. Instead I had to build (or correct) my own list as I used turbotax year after year. I would be helpful to already have Quicken categories and .appropriate subcategories already setup before starting TT.
What's great about it: The ability to compare the past few years returns is great!
What's not so great: I wish there were more definitions available by clicking on an item.

Always a pleasure doing my taxes with Turbo Tax

Doing taxes is a breeze using Turbo Tax. It's complete, easy to understand, and has outstanding reference guides. The cost of the software is extremely reasonable and is very easy to use, either through the step-by-step instructions or by choosing your own selected entries.
Great product Turbo Tax and an outstanding tax support team.
What's great about it: Ease of following instructions and catches all the details
What's not so great: None

Better Than Ever, But...

This gets better and easier every year. The questions in the review seemed more focused this year. I have more confidence in my answers based on the presentation and accompanying notes.
Two things could be improved:
1] when I left for awhile and came back, it didn't automatically pick up my return at the point I left off like it did last year...
2] I refinanced with a reverse mortgage this year and feel there should be a more complete section addressing those issues and differences, both in the year you first encounter it, and going forward. What do I need to do [can I do] next year? It is always such a good feeling to press send, and then to quickly get the confirmations that they have been sent and later accepted by each agency. Peace of mind personalized!

What's not so great: not complete enough on home mortgages, no auto restart
