The title says it all - 12 consecutive years of confidence in submitting the Tax Return Documentation
What's great about it: Very easy to follow the interview from start to finish
What's not so great: had to contact Intuit to be able to dowenload the State forms

If Mi wants taxes to be filed electronically, then there should be NO CHARGE to do this. Until it is free, I will not file MI by e-file.
What's not so great: Charge to e-file is TOO high, some sections don't fit situation with no alternatives available.

You can not file a return when there are estimated entries yet TT does not provide any hints or list of estimated entries.

good first time try

I am a sole proprietor who has paid someone to do my taxes for the past 12 years. wanting to have a better grasp of the whole process, i decided to do my own this year. i was scared to death to do this. this application was very easy to use. of course i have no idea how thorough it was, i'll know that after i mail it in, but i am happy with the experience. when i was confused about something, there was a "learn more" link which explained. i am quite happy, and will use again next year. in fact, I am hoping to review past years using this software.
What's great about it: easy to use, lots of help, clear instructions

At the end, when errors are found - it doesn't provide examples of what the answer should be or include. Also E filing, the software thought I already submitted a duplicate SSN filing. That would be impossible. So I have to file through the mail! What a pain.
What's great about it: Good but still needs improvement.
What's not so great: Still doesn't explain everything!

I've used Turbo Tax for 15 years and am honestly amazed that I have never received an offer to download a digital copy of the SW rather than going to some brick and mortar store to buy the disc. there is a huge opportunity lost by TurboTax and related companies to upsell the product and other financial tools. I would be impressed to see some analysis that showed what deductions/write-offs I've consistently files or changed over the course of my use of the SW package, and what other related packages would make great sense to leverage if the right discounted package were made avaiable. For instance, you/I should be able to do analysis that shows how my filings have changed over time, what income has changed, and what might be wise investment or financial business tools to leverage. Additionally, as kids get older or I approach retirement age, it would be a great customer relationship opportunity to reach out and offer toolsets that are better for long-term investment and annuity developmetn. You're missing a huge opportunity to grow out of the comfort zone.

Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
