Excellent Program -- Overall

While I am very satisfied with the Intuit 2013 Turbo Tax for Home and Business SW -- I encountered a few glitches that just did not make sense. I've used Turbo Tax for over 10 years -- the Deluxe package and used Home and Business for 2012 and 2013. The SW still facilitates going through the 1040 process ver well and in a straight forward type of way, but for example -- I could not find where I had options on calculating the Federal Estimate Tax (whereas in the Alabama module -- I received options) and the SW just calculated the estimated tax -- based upon 2013 earnings. In fact -- my total family income for 2014 will be less than 2013 because my spouse retired Federal Government services on 31 March. Logically, the program would not know that but I found that I could not change those parameters - anywhere so that it would calculate an Estimate Tax that was a bit more realistic based upon estimated earning projections. I paid $5250 in estimated taxes for 2013 and received a nominal refund; I project 2014 to be a drop in over $60K yet the estimates run are $9292 or over $4000 more.
What's great about it: Facilitates the process

Another saisfying year

Have been using TurboTax for several years now. This would be a 6 of 5 stars app if the state portion (I have used for two different states over the years) were as easy as the federal section.
What's great about it: Easy flow for Federal Return
What's not so great: Adequate, but not stellar for State -- a lot of external searching required

Complicated taxes simplified--mostly

I've used TurboTax now for 8 years and find it improves annually. My self-employment taxes always have ins and outs that require quite a bit of informational support. TT isn't perfect and sometimes I only realize I've missed something because of past experience. That could work more smoothly. That said, I'm confident that my taxes are complete and accurate, except for some of the newer MLP investments we have.
What's great about it: Handled very well nearly all of the complexities of a self-employed person with a working wife
What's not so great: MLP K-1 partnerships are complex and filing taxes requires lots of back up explanations which I felt were incomplete

Invaluable, even with a glitch or two

I have used TurboTax since it first appeared. It was reason enough by itself, back in the day, to buy a computer. It has kept improving and made doing taxes as easy and inexpensive as one could reasonably expect.
There are still occasional problems. My only one this year was that during the error review TurboTax created a schedule I didn't need to file -- and I could not find out why the program created it and so late in the process, when I thought I had not filled out any worksheet related to it. There were no figures in the schedule, so ultimately I deleted the form and e-filed. Still love TurboTax in spite of this.

What's great about it: Makes it fast and easy to file my and my mom's return
What's not so great: Not entirely perfect dealing with financial complexities

2013 taxes

Overall Excellent ... Tax return included a schedule C, two rental properties and a W-2. Worked like a champ!
What's great about it: Good mix of guidance and DIY
What's not so great: Took more research than I thought for depreciation when a vehicle is traded
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Progress in making foreign income reporting easier

OK, Turbotax did their job, but the IRS now taxes my daughter's college scholarship for money spent on room and board. A procedural pain in the neck, then, but not the fault of Turbotax.
But I'm happy after years of using Turbotax that the forms for excluding foreign income are so much easier to fill out now. That's real progress. Thanks, Turbotax
What's great about it: Foreign earned income handled much better than in previous years
What's not so great: Have to file separately for my college student
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good tax software

I have used this software for a number of years and am satisfied with the results. It usually gets me my highest refund and goes step by step which helps, because I'm not a tax genius. Only issues is sometimes they come up with weird popups.
What's great about it: Usually gets me my highest review

Federal Tac + Schedlue C

I have used Turbo Tax Home & Business every year since 2000 and have never been disappointed. Each year it has gotten easier and the software keeps up with the Federal Tax changes. The confusion comes to play because of business expenses, not because of Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Great software -
What's not so great: Sometimes confusing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
