Most corrections to the return were in Schedule C. There were not enough explanations to go along with what they were asking, and there were areas that di not make sense.
difficult to figure out without flipping back and forth on the tax issue for real estate taxes. still not sure I put it in the right line Also vague on rent and royalty income--how to enter if it WAS not due to a 'business' but rather a one time check for use of something, like a rent or royalty. When finished, the state tax papers seemed to be forgotten by Turbo tax. No info how to retrieve or print them off to send in. Did find them but had to search
What's not so great: Not clear on tax entry, and some other things
All in all this is a great tax prep program. Even idiots can file. They cover all the details. Are there concerns? Seems that some data for the prior years is not easily recognized for AMT
What's great about it: easy training wheel steps to help you file
What's not so great: Optional Audit review does not work as it hangs and loops
Overall a great tax package that has allowed us to efficiently complete taxes for our home and businesses. Does a good job of carrying forward depreciation allowances and other business and personal information. I like they way it just starts with last years return and goes forward without having to reenter basic data. This is about my 10th year with Turbo Tax for Mac. It has been important to me that I can also use the program to complete and file taxes with /for my sons and daughter.
What's great about it: Error free, consider all credits/deductions/allows several 1040's w/e-file
What's not so great: Can't print just window/charge for state e-files.
Been using Turbo Tax from the beginning. Will continue! Wish the business and college expense sections were explained more. Not sure why this year we weren't asked how much we actually paid the college when we were asked last year.
Wish you had a 1040EZ version included with each Turbo Tax package so you can click on it and it just walks you through the EZ form. It's a pain to have to go through all of those questions that don't apply to minors and those who don't have enough deductions to write them off anyways.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Sometimes questions are vague and not explained enough
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
