Review from the poor farm

I used to file on paper, and know that if you claim straight mileage, you don't need to know all those other things - how many personal miles you drove, etc. The tax program makes us answer many irrelevant questions about mileage - not necessary to the tax form - for each vehicle for each and every rental unit, for the farm, and for the sawmill. I didn't even bother with the home health mileage this year, but will have to answer the same redundant questions about that next year. I would like to see one question: Are you sure you are going to claim the straight mileage deduction, and be done with all that. Since the same vehicles are used for the farm, the rentals, and the sawmill, it is totally frustrating to do this repeatedly.
What's great about it: It allows me to choose which topics I want to work on. The refund amount/amount due changes appropriately with entries.
What's not so great: mileage is a pain.

The Only Way to File Your Taxes!

I have used Turbo Tax for over 5 years straight now and I will continue to use it as it is easy and I like the way it walks me through all the sections one at a time. My husband and I both work regular jobs and I have always had a small business on the side, so I use the Home & Business version of Turbo Tax and it has always been an awesome experience.
What's great about it: Simple, easy & walks you through everything. Love the review portion!
What's not so great: Having to pay extra for the State filing!

Everything went smooth except, we had federal tax withheld by a credit card processor on a 1099-K and it was very hard to enter. I finally entered it in a miscellaneous category and it seemed to print correctly on the tax form.

Turbo Tax was great. If any mistakes were made it was because this was my first time filing taxes on my own in over 30 years. I really appreciate Turbo Tax. I hope I did everything right.
thank you.

Better than usual

Went pretty well, with a modestly complicated filing. Have used TT since the mid 1980s, so I am pretty familiar with the routine. The error checking is good, especially when the program fails to let you enter some data, or you "should have entered zero" - it forces you to "enter zero" during the error review (it has happened on K-1 forms for the past 3 years).
What's great about it: Straightforward, Not Complicted, does a complete job
What's not so great: Caused a Prnter crash, does't ask all the questions on a K-1 form

I've had my taxes prepared for the past 20 years. My beloved enrollled agent / father in law was recovering from major surgery, so I used TurboTax this year. I'd last done my own before we could itemize expenses. Our returns are considerably more complex this year. Ultimately, TurboTax Home & Business helped me through this, and now I'm tempted to start using Quicken and not let so many deductions slip through the cracks.
The TurboTax interface was helpful and soothing. It took me multiple sessions (our recordkeeping is sub-optimal), but I completed my return.
That said, I found that skipping around resulted in some glitches. I'd skipped the home office deduction for my business, then came back to it later. When I completed entering the info, it said I had no profit, so I couldn't take the deduction. Google helped, and found the advice to delete the office and start over, which worked.
The other glitch was that when I completed everything, TurboTax would not allow me to eFile because one of our W-2s had a $0 in line 1 (non-taxable disability payment from an insurance company). I confirmed that a tax professional would still be able to eFile, not sure why TurboTax can't let me. But I'm printing this sucker out and mailing it on 4/14!
What's great about it: Systematically works through tax situations
What's not so great: When there's a glitch or confusion, suddenly need to ponder what it means
Pros: I bought or sold investments
