easy as pie

Used a different software last year that did not support working in one state and living in another. Had to take my return to their office to complete. What's up with that?
What's great about it: quick and simple
What's not so great: none I can think of

I wish I understood the tax lingo better. I have farm and some wording on the questions where not very clear and cut. I know it's tax lingo but I know there were some things I missed or didn't do due to not clearly understanding. And yes I know there was the help guides but still not understanding the wording, kind of tricky.
What's great about it: I could see the forms that went with the questions.
What's not so great: The extra cost of filing State taxes

2013 Taxes

Turbo tax is easy to use. I believe it's best if you know something about taxes. It has no way of knowing your exact situation. But with the data from the previous year it is easy to see what you did last year to compare if you have the same deductions for this year.
What's great about it: I liked the imported information
What's not so great: The step by step does not take you through everything

Always gets me through filing quickly. Harder to keep the categorization right in my Quicken file, consistency.
What's great about it: Nice synch with Quicken, gets you through the sections quickly if you're ready. Identifies the needed docs if you aren'
What's not so great: Can be a little hard to get out of a form you start that you didn't want to. Might show in review.

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE? (MY ATTORNEY SAYS I'LL GET TO KEEP MY TURBO IF EVER DIVORCED...) IT LED ME BY THE HAND THROUGH THE MIASMA THAT IS THE TAX ENVIRONMENT, AND DID NOT REQUIRE AN INCREASE IN MY MEDICATION AT ANY POINT...
What's great about it: LOVE THIS PROGRAM MORE EVERY YEAR THAT I'VE COME BACK TO IT--SEEMS TO GET EASIER (OR COULD BE I'M A SLOW LEARNER!!!)
What's not so great: HAPPY, HAPPY -- NO CONS...

Had an error of no label data for operating losses, line 21 of form 1040, but did not give me a clue where the item came from.
What's great about it: Works well to find errors.
What's not so great: Does not always define the error source well

2013 Turbo Tax Survey

We really like Turbo Tax and have been using it for years. Tried another package once and did not like it compared to Turbo Tax. We really need and use the local tax feature, thank you.
What's great about it: Easy to use, we have been using Turbo Tax for probably 20 years. Really like having local tax included
What's not so great: Cannot figure out how to delete unused tax return files
