Filing Function needs improvement
on April 13, 2014

I was not allowed to file State Return electronically because of some State rule, but trying to figure out how to electronically send the Federal return and then print and mail the State return was confusing and hard to understand.
I do not like the fact that you have to answer the same beginning questions repeatedly when you leave a section and then return to that same section.
Generally I like Turbo tax and have used it for over ten years. I will be a repeat customer.
Thank you.
What's great about it: Step by Step easy walk through
What's not so great: Makes you repeat answers to some questions when you leave and return to same section. Filing Functions are confusing.
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Does a great job, we constantly get the best refund available because it walks you through every option. The only con is the amount of time that goes into drudging up the information to input into the software, by no means a fault of its design, but it does need a little improvement on the data transfer from previous years and would be nice if you didn't have to buy new software every year. Otherwise a great product that I use year after year and would strongly recommend!
What's great about it: fast, easy, and maximizes refund
What's not so great: you have compile a lot of data
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've been using TT for about 13 years now and it's always intuitive and easy. Importing from ItsDeductible online saves me hundreds - if not more- $ per year. As my taxes have become more comlex, I've upgraded to Home & Business, and I THINK it has everything I need. TT needs to work towards improving navigation within Business Expenses and State returns - I have to open & click through several tabs to find what I'm looking for... I LOVE the feeling of control that TT gives me rather than using an accountant and paying too much for the same # -or fewer- deductions!
What's great about it: Easy step by step
What's not so great: State navigation tends to be weak

Friendly software to use. Would seem silly to pay someone to do your taxes when it is so simple to use turbo tax.
What's great about it: very easy to use
What's not so great: none

Review 2013 TurboTax Home and Business
on April 13, 2014

TT H+B is thorough and complete. However, there is a level of "fuzziness" that exists between personal and business deductions, particularly if there is an area of "overlap". The most serious trend that I noticed was if a business expense could be entered as a personal expense, and how to determine the overall reporting "strategy" that should be used by the taxpayer.
What's great about it: Thorough, step-by-step evaluation of my tax situation
What's not so great: Confusing business/personal amount allocation

Overall, this is great for anyone to prepare income taxes, especially those who are not really familiar with irs and state forms, but would like to do taxes on their own.
What's great about it: User friendly, easy to follow instructiions.
What's not so great: Was a little bit confused with rental properties, real estate agent activities, and k1
