Great Day Spent w/ Turbo Tax

Sorry, but I just sat here for nine hours straight. The brain is not functioning well. I am shocked and pleased at how relatively simple this was. So glad to be working with this team of professionals. Thank you! Saved a ton of money and am so glad that I followed the advice of someone who started using Turbo Tax two years ago. I will be speaking of this often...right after I attend the wedding of my former tax preparer's son!
What's great about it: Ease of use. Details covered. Simple and complete explanations and definitions and references
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great job works well inspires confidence
What's great about it: Very very good overall. The handling of the multiple states in coordination with the VA was superb.
What's not so great: None

*Been using this program for the last 6 years or so and I think that loyal customers ought to get a "loyalty discount".
**Need more advise about how much 1st year deductions to take for business items based on how it will affect refund/amount owed. I almost took the entire 1st year deduction until I realized that I would receive the same amount by deducting only about 2/3.
**Need WAY more details on sale of residence (personal or rental) that was done contract for deed!
Also, maybe offer some expense checklists rather than just a few suggestions per category
What's great about it: Pretty simple to navigate
What's not so great: *Price **Missing a lot of needed detailed info.........

Ease of Use

I've been using TurboTax for more than 10 years without so much as a new ulcer from the filing system. I freely recommend this program to anyone, and especially those among my friends who are self-employed.
What's great about it: So simple anyone can use it.

Auto Transfer of Last Year's Info Would be a Help

I have used Turbo Tax for 20+ years but this was the first time I could not transfer last years info and had to do it all manually with no comparisons. Restored lost files after a hard disk failure. Had a PDF file in my records but no *.tax2012 files to be found (why not?). Could not open *.pdf file with 2013 or 2012 Turbo tax (why not?). Aside from the hassle of manual data entry, I liked this year's edition. Don't know why but guide never led me to entering Home Office expenses for software, manuals, lower priced supplies. Went back several times but could never find where to enter these expenses.
What's great about it: Guided tours were very helpful and thorough
What's not so great: Could not open last year's return no matter what I tried

makes taxes easy

the wording of the vehicle mileage deduction under employee business expenses got changed and its rather confusing...took me a while to understand what they were getting at. Other than that, I absolutely LOVE this program and will use it every year. Why pay someone else my refund?
What's great about it: auto inputs last years info, love the year to year comparisons, i feel like i understand things

We made it before the deadline!

We always share the duties of tax time - one of us does the initial entry and the other gives it a second review to make sure everything is entered correctly and nothing is forgotten. TurboTax makes it as painless as possible for both of us by stepping us through the process and making us pay attention to each section. If you keep your receipts in one central location, it really doesn't take long to get everything entered and finished for the year.
What's great about it: Leads you through each step in case you don't know what you're doing.
What's not so great: None

Another One Bites the Dust

This is about the ninth or tenth year I have used TurboTax and it has always worked flawlessly for me. Some years the "extras" are better than others. I remember embedded videos explaining things some years back. If they are still there, I missed them.
I also like the information that is provided comparing your taxes and rates to others of similar income levels. Its fun to see how you stack up to others of similar income.
This year e-filing was the easiest ever. That part keeps getting better.
What's great about it: Worked like it was supposed to, no hiccups, no pain.
What's not so great: It's never fun to do your taxes, but that is not TurboTax's fault. I miss the videos that used to be embedded.
