CAN'T EFILE
on April 14, 2014

I have used Turbo Tax for years and years. We have two rental properties, one is fully depreciated and the other not. Every year the worksheet shows the correct information, however on the Schedule E it always wants to use depreciation for both condos - which is an error. When I override, it continues to tell me I have an error - which is not true. Thus, because Turbo Tax thinks I have an error, it won't let me efile, which this year was a real pain. So I have to file and attach all the extras. I don't know how to correct this in the program, but I know that if I make the correction that it wants, I will be overstating the depreciation for the fully depreciated condo. If you know a correction for this, please let me know, because I have been having to do this override ever since the one condo is fully depreciated out.
Thanks
What's great about it: OVERALL GOOD
What's not so great: PROGRAM ERROR FOR YEARS

This Year's Product is a bit of a let down
on April 14, 2014

This years product is a let down. it advises you to go to a certain form or menu - but the they don't exist. One example: Trying to calculate the Vehicle depreciation for business - tells you to go to certain menu, select this and go from there. But, menu and form doesn't exist. You have to go to the IRS, do it manually, then proceed. I got examples like this in other areas.
What's great about it: covers all areas step by step - supposedly (see cons)
What's not so great: missing forms and menus
Pros: I had a baby, I moved

was completely unable to e file my taxes
on April 14, 2014

Found it difficult to obtain updates and then couldn't e file my taxes. Was it because I was only going to file federal?
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax 2013
on April 14, 2014

There were two instances of Turbo Tax identifying data fields that needed to be filled in which were non-applicable. This made e-filing a bit more of a chore than it needed to be. Had to go back and either delete a form which never should have been there in the first place or edit a data field that didn't apply. Given the complexity of filing tax returns, these were perceived as minor problems. Overall I would recommend Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: User friendly interface
What's not so great: Erroneous errors detected before filing

First year as a small business
on April 14, 2014

Filing our small business taxes this year was not nearly as painless as I expected from Turbotax. It was confusing to have to split out expenses manually and then reconcile the totals at the end. Turbotax should have had something to help us walk through it instead of us having to pull out a calculator and divide everything in half... It was also a little unexpected to be told to put different descriptions in for our business depending on whose return we were working on. Overall, not the experience I'd expect.
What's great about it: Same easy-to-use format as always
What's not so great: LLC expense allocations were painful
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I buy the cd version, because I want to store my data on my system not in cypher space.
What's great about it: fairly easy to move around to diferent sections
What's not so great: State intrest transfer is still bad from last year (it blank lines at top)
Pros: I bought or sold investments
