I use quicken throughout the year and when tax time comes it's no sweat!
What's great about it: current and prior year information imports seamlessly
What's not so great: Would like to be able to add a second return for non-dependent college student
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

In the foreign tax computation section, when I downloaded the files from the financial provider into Turbo Tax, some of the conditions and tax consequences regarding taxes paid and exposure was over my head.
What's great about it: Through
What's not so great: A little difficult to understand in some sections

Have used TurboTax numerous times. Had a PA do our taxes after we moved from Virginia to Maine and sold our home in Virginia. Would recommend TurboTax as it has been an easy to use software that walks you through the tax process and does Review.
What's great about it: Easy to Follow Process
What's not so great: N/A
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax 2013 Home & Business

I am still learning Quick Books (and I am not an accountant), so my entries were not complete enough to transfer directly into Turbo Tax. I had to do it manually, but next year will be different!
I am a single-member LLC.
What's great about it: EVERYTHING was included!
What's not so great: The business sections were quite involved, but workable.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Having used TT for 15 years, I would expect to Y/ Y advances. Still not importing my Quicken HB 2013 data in a usable fashion, navigation is better, unless you need to skip a section for some reason. Tempted to try another vendor next year, but will probably continue to use this one.
What's great about it: ease of use, interview, quick switch to forms
What's not so great: still using same format, room for improvement
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Left me in the lurch

After I'd done all my work, the file refused to update. The only "fix" TT offers is to delete and reinstall - I'm not willing to do that when I've invested hours in getting the taxes done. So I went ahead and completed everything to e-file only to be told that the system won't allow me to do so unless i update. And when I try to update, TT freezes and I have to shut down my computer. NOT COOL, guys!!!
What's great about it: Longtime user; generally find what I need
What's not so great: See below
Pros: I bought or sold investments

too many hoops to jump through

overall , ok, but there are things that make it a pain, efiling won't work for State if you are retired and have zero taxable federal income...
What's great about it: does the job
What's not so great: hate reviews, some things prompt that you don't need which require more time.
