steps back from 2012

I found myself navigating through forms to figure out how to correct errors made in step by step. Think everything got taken care of, but had to delete some forms manually which is not a great feeling. Really hate that you can not navigate directly (easily) to update one item, but have to go through a ton of questions - a real waste of time! That said seemed to figure out all my items w/ out too much research.
What's great about it: Complete & accurte
What's not so great: Too rigid in input method. step by step not always logical
Pros: I bought or sold investments

It helps to have used turbotax before -- this may be the best version yet!
What's great about it: I like the user interface and the options to go to the entries directly

I have always done my own taxes except while working overseas and the company did it.. I have been using Turbo Tax since 1977. I have seen the improvements each year. I had several business and Ira distributions, and investments, Turbo Tax has made it easier. Thank you Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Fill in the blanks
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

TT 2013 Review

Having done my own taxes for more than 30 years, I got hooked on TurboTax from the first time I used it, more than 5 years ago. The interface is intuitive and the queries thorough, even with a fairly complicated tax return like mine (multiple jobs, including self-employment, multiple properties, moving, investments, rentals, etc.).
My only complaint with this year's version is that when I modified my return in EasySteps, the data did not always transfer over to the required forms, necessitating a couple of manual entries during the final error checking.
A minor glitch, which didn't cause any problems, is that occasionally it would not open up a saved return. However, if I exited the program and reopened it I was able to open the saved return.
One suggestion to improve what is already an excellent product. If you could somehow interface TT with an online search engine to automatically do informational lookups (like the correct address and/or zip code for charitable organizations) that would be a great time saver.
Looking forward to using TurboTax next year!
What's great about it: Intuitive, thorough, easy to navigate
What's not so great: A rare crash or two (although autosaved return), some minor glitches
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Relatively Easy for a Complex Return

I seem to always stumble when I get to the West Virginia taxes. I am the only one in our joint taxes to make money there but all of our incomes get thrown in. I don't know if it's WV or Turbo Tax but neither the IT-140NRS nor the straight 140 would work for filing out the taxes. I sent a written explanation to WV along with the Turbo Tax summary for WV and an electronic form that was not submitted (because we were not allowed to do that) in the hopes that they would suffice. WV is a sister state to VA and it should go smoothly. Maybe next year?
Turbo Tax still beats all other approaches to doing the taxes!!!!
What's great about it: Feds and VA State were a breeze
What's not so great: WV has some glitches

Turbo Tax Home and Business 2013

I have been a Turbo Tax user for over 10 years. Overall it is very easy to use. I like the fact that historical data is carried forward ie. remembering what institutions paid interest, dividends and capital gains in the prior year. I also find their help buttons handy when questions arise.
The main downside arises when you work in one state and reside in another. There is no way to get interest, dividends and capital gains to automatically flow to the proper state return. This makes it necessary to make entries deleting items as "non state earnings."
Other than that flaw, I would definitely recommend this software.
What's great about it: Ease of use, carry forward of historical data
What's not so great: Difficult to use if multiple state returns are filed
Pros: I bought or sold investments
