It is helpful that they take you through each topic and ask if you have any thing to enter in that area. some things i would not have thought of if turbo tax had not brought them up
What's great about it: it takes you step by step through the process.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Ease of Collecting Pertinent Info

This is the 1st time I have prepared my own taxes in several years. Prior to this we had used a tax professional. I thought I could save some money by using TurboTax and doing it myself. My wife has a direct sales business working out of our home. TurboTax was able to walk me through all the steps to ensure we received all the deductions we were entitled to.
What's great about it: Step-by-step instructions for completing return

Great but one snag

Cannot ever understand exactly what line item needs attention when an error is found. I wanted to e-file but after going through the same circle over and over of trying to figure out what my last error was before it would file. I kept winding back in the same place, I finally gave up and decided to print and mail. Great program but that one thing just befuddles me.

I love turbotax and would most certainly have to pay big $$ to hire a CPA for my taxes if it didn't exist. I've tried other software packages too but none compare. I have used TT now for 7 straight years and wouldn't consider anything else. The biggest weakness is with multiple state returns. Every year, I have the same problem - the software wants to assign some of my wife's business income to the other states, where only some of my income (as denoted on the w2s) should apply. This year, for example, it did it for the OH non-resident return and it took lots of trial and effort to figure out how to fix it. The worst part is that had I not dealt with the problem in previous years, I might not have even noticed ... and then ended up paying additional taxes to OH incorrectly. Anyway, my situation is probably unique as I regularly have 6-9 state returns I have to complete. That said, it seems odd that TT gets all the other complicated stuff right but not this one. Regardless, I'll still use it, 100% for sure, next year. Will just have to navigate the multiple state returns very carefully.
What's great about it: Ease of use, step-by-step walk through, provides confidence
What's not so great: Multiple state returns are not as seamless (and never have been) as rest of app

TT Home & Biz is quite a good program for the money. There are a few awkwardnesses - one should be able to specify each form of state tax that is paid and deducted. Some things are hard to find - captal loss.
Other things should be available w/o going through interview and are not - like closing out a business, which is only in the interview.
Basicly, it's pretty good, and I no longer find obvious bugs.
What's great about it: very complete
What's not so great: NH State process a bit awkward
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Very helpful
What's not so great: Doesn't hold onto the answers from previous entries when going into sections multiple times.
