Good but sometimes frustrating

I have used Turbo Tax off and on for many years. Overall I find it easy to use and helpful, and will continue to use it, but as I have gotten older and more complicated, I have found it less perfect. On foreign related income it is less useful, and I had to do additional research to answer my problem. This biggest additional problem I had this year was with the update process which didn't run as smoothly or completely as before.
What's great about it: Easy to use, helpful
What's not so great: Updating and filing challenges, not so helpful with foreign related issues

Need more spots at which the software says BACKUP AND A SHORT AND SIMPLE WAY TO BACKUP - LIKE THE WORDS "BACKUP DATA" AND NO PRINT OPTION.
MAKE PRINTING EASIER SO IT BECOMES A WORD OR EXCELL DOCUMENTS IN ONE SAVE MADE OPTION.
PLEASE MAKE UP A BETTER REVIEW FORMAT FOR THE REAL WORLD.
What's great about it: Keeps you on track
What's not so great: Expla9nations still not as simple as they should be

My refund by TT

I don't bother paying anyone to do my taxes, I figure once I have gathered all the paperwork - that's the hardest part. Turbo Tax makes it easy to input the date and doesn't take me but a few hours to input. About the same amount of time I'd spend a tax preparer answering questions, and I can do this at night. no taking off work. I do get lost in the Line 7 of part B schedule 2090 or whatever, when looking from Federal to State, but that's part of the wonderful tax code. I don't bother paying TT to file my state since Illinois has free efile, however since I had the Business TT this year, it downloaded and filled out MOST of the form for me. I copied it to the online state 1040, but remembered to add the property tax deduction that illinois offers.
What's great about it: does the calculations for me
What's not so great: Didn't know IL state gets property tax credit and I couldn't follow the trail for a Schedule M state deduction -

It would be nice to be able to strictly input by form.
What's great about it: The software is competively priced.
What's not so great: The product is difficult to use...if you know the forms.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall, a good tax package.

A frustrating characteristic to me was filling in a blank box with data and returning later to the box and finding it empty. Is the answer I supplied previously stored or do I need to re-enter the data? Not knowing, I re-entered the data. I hated that but worse was the entry for the sales tax large purchases data entry. I never figured out why there was an error on the first date. I finally went through the check procedure and re-entered the date and associated data from the form and the problem was corrected. This one entry was extremely frustrating. This particular entry did not seem very well thought out and did not seem to recognize that there could be multiple tax rates applied within a single residency. Over all, I think that there is less explanation than in years past causing a little more investigation on the part of the user. Still....overall a good tax package.
What's great about it: Thorough
What's not so great: Sales tax large purchase data entry extremely awkward.

Not great for complicated situations

I found it extremely challenging to file a joint federal return and separate state returns. I know it is an unusual situation, but it is the reality for many of us in the military. In the future, I'll isa a CPA.
What's great about it: Easy for simple stuff
What's not so great: Difficult to handle complicated tax situations
Pros: I bought or sold investments
