Good but reporting could be better

While the guide is good. There are issues with importing data and being able to print out information from the screens. The year over year analysis printing is difficult and navigation when doing multiple States is not great.
The cost of filing the State returns is excessive - considering one has to purchase the software for additional states as well at a hefty price. Since there is only limited data needed for the supplemental States returns one would think the total cost to use and file for secondary states would be less.
What's great about it: Seems through and easy to use, good guide
What's not so great: Year over year reporting is minimal, costly to use and file multiple State returns

Disappointed for the first time

I always find the TurboTax interview dealing with credit for foreign taxes paid to be the weakest part of the program, but this year reached a new low. Instead of coping information from my Form 1116 to the AMT forms, I was instructed in review to link the forms manually. (Why?) The process of linking forms creates multiple copies of the forms, requiring that I file by mail, rather than electronically. This is a level of non-performance that makes me question whether I will use Turbo Tax in the future.
What's great about it: Comptehensive interview process
What's not so great: Porr handling for foreign tax paid

Very professionally designed and pretty easy to follow.
What's great about it: Very informative, just like a tax course.
What's not so great: The fact I wasn't using this 20 years ago... if it existed!

My forms did not print. More complicated to complete. Not a good service. Guess you get what you pay for.
What's great about it: Not much to talk about
What's not so great: Getting more complicated to complete. WHY
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

extension confusion
on April 14, 2014

The only complaint I had was in trying to use TurboTax to figure out extension payment. If I remember, it asked about extension payment before calculation of taxes was complete. I want to use the program to calculate/estimate how much I may owe, then enter the amount I want to pay with extension. The extension entry area really should have its own sub-tab. under Fed and State. The state portion seemed to handle the extension better.
What's great about it: Overall entry process is good
What's not so great: When doing taxes to figure out extension payments, handling of extenson payment/non-payment does is confusing.

Simple to use

My business opened last January, and I had planned on having to come away from Turbo Tax and have an outside company do my taxes because I thought that it was going to be way too difficult. But since I use Quickbooks, my book keeper assured me that I'd be able to handle it myself. It all worked out really well, and despite having to rearrange some expenses into their proper catagories, it was super easy. I like the feeling of having as much control over my business as possible :)
What's great about it: Easy enough that I did my new business taxes for the first time ever (since opening)
What's not so great: Maybe specify a bit better on including owning a time share falling under the "home ownership" section.

I think this year it was even easier. It even alerted me to where I made a mistake last year - now I will file an amended return and get the money I paid as a refund.
What's great about it: very easy to use
