Again... super job.... I even have my 3 kids/young adults sold on TurboTax... Been using Turbo T for almost a decade... See you all next year!
What's great about it: Flexibility and guided tour style... very intuitive tool!
What's not so great: No cons... but would like to be led more regarding AMT... tool said did not apply... but I'd like a final note...

Getting Less Helpful Over the Years

I have used Turbo Tax for many years. It seems like over the years it has gotten less helpful. Instead of asking questions that help you do your taxes they seem to increasingly just pass the question from the tax form onto the user without much clarification (e.g. "What is the FMV of asset 1?"). That doesn't make it that much easier than doing the paperwork yourself.
My wife and I both have small home businesses. One of the things that bothers me is that I will enter all of the utilities, repairs, etc for my home business and then have to enter the same information for my wife's business. I wish there was a level of intelligence built into the software that pulled the information from my business and populated hers.
One of these days I will get annoyed enough to search out the other tax preparation software products out there.
What's great about it: Still an effective way to figure and submit taxes
What's not so great: It is gradually getting less helpful and more technical

Great for common stuff, rough around the edges

I've used TT for several years now, and generally I'm happy with it. It does a great job with the more ordinary and common tax situations - home office, small business, W-2, typical investments, etc.
There are some rough spots where the help screens degenerate into tax-lawyer lingo and acronyms. I ran into this in dealing with selling a car that had been used for business. I also ran into a snag this year with a lump-sum payment from Social Security for prior years - preventing it from e-filing. I messed with it and got it to go through - not sure if it's OK or not. We'll see!

Great Product

Great product but can't use S-corp on Macintosh. So I usually have to use a virtual machine on Mac, very inconvenient, and slow. Your missing a market. Been a Mac user since Mac's first came out.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: S-Corp can't be used on Macintosh, have to use windows which is very inconvient.

Product Worked

I have been using Turbo Tax for almost a decade. Product continues to meet expectations. The 2013 version seemed to load my system a little heavy at times, bit always continued to work. I don't have to worry about math errors or entering something in the wrong place on my return.
What's great about it: Good Product Year after Year
What's not so great: Seemed to load computer aat times

Turbotax Home and Business review by first time us

Previously went to accounting firm but they kept charging more and more despite my return getting easier. Decided to try TurboTax so first time user. Software is well laid out in logical sections so you walk through a part at a time. Can be intimidating knowing if a section applies to you or not. Help is good and can be beneficial to use. Takes time backtracking business data so the software can work from a history. I suspect it will get easier each year I use the software. Would be helpful if I started using it from the start of my business but then it might not have existed then! I recommend this software to anyone, what have you got to loose?
What's great about it: Well organized, walks you through each section
What's not so great: Can be intimidating if you don't leave enough time to complete

Love Turbo Tax

No Intimidation!

I have now used Turbo Tax to file my taxes for 17 years - I love it and believe it takes the intimidation and difficulty out of tax filing. Sometimes, I wish that it had reminders for "if you know what you are doing, just fill in the form accessed here." It sometimes takes me through a series of questions so that it can do the math when I already know the math for a credit that I have been filing for years. Other than that, love it!
What's great about it: Easy to follow & yet very thorough
What's not so great: Have to jump through hoops even if you are smart!
