I use Turbo tax every year return.
What's great about it: best of trade
What's not so great: n/a

Made a painful task less painful

Thank goodness for software like TurboTax. It makes filing a tax return a process one can complete at home with confidence that the calculations will be correct and the opportunities for all your eligible tax deductions will be entered. Commonly asked/answered questions section makes it easy to prepare your own return and get questions answered. Highly recommend TurboTax.
What's great about it: carefully walks you thorugh the forms
What's not so great: too many tax forms!

At error correction, it said there were 4 errors. It pulled up a form that required more information. I looked the form over and had no idea what it was for. I tried to guess what it was for and entered my best guess. Then I thought I might know where I could find it in the return. I went back to where I thought it might have been and couldn't find it.
When I returned to the error correction, it said I had no errors, so I went back to review and walked through. It still said no errors. I don't really know if there are any errors or not.
Every year this error page comes up and I have to try to grind through it to figure out just what the error is. This aspect of TT really needs a lot of work to improve the product.

It took a longtime but it was my fault. Paperwork and detailes.

Love Turbo Tax

On the whole a positive experience. In spite of going through the software step by step, there were places on the forms that were left unfilled. These had to be filled later which was not convenient. Turbo Tax should also include one state e-filing for free.
What's great about it: Walked me step by step through my return
What's not so great: Left some areas on the form unfilled

Great product for the money - especially if you only need the basic edition. For difficult tax issues you may still need to consult a tax professional. But that would be the case for any tax software on the market.
What's great about it: Easy to use. I like to enter most data through the Forms view. Very accurate
What's not so great: It would be nice if W-2s were available on the basic version for people with household employees.
