Turbo Tax does it again!

This year Turbo Tax was very quick and easy. I always wait until the last minute and I struggle. This year, for whatever reason, it was easy. I still waited until the end but I was done in just over an hour.
What's great about it: This year was the quickest for me.
What's not so great: I had no problems or dislikes.

Used TurboTax for Home & Business and it really couldn't have been simpler. Had an accountant do it a few years ago and the cost got outrageous so I turned to tax software. Intuit made it easy, secure and comes with a guarantee!
What's great about it: The federal tour was excellent
What's not so great: State returns still leave questions ... but the links helped find the answers

I have used TurboTax for many years. Now I'm using it for my business and personal filings.
What's great about it: Excellent customer support
What's not so great: Program bug that did not recognize I had the updated Iowa Tax Forms

I had two k-1 companies on one k-1 form. After entering the info for the first co. there was no link or page or form to enter the second co. I had to pretend to have two k-1's and TT did not want to accept this. It was a tricky and time consuming work around. I just hope the IRS will accept the info as presented.
What's great about it: good at simple k-1
What's not so great: no place to put duel k-1 info

makes the painful livable

I used TurboTax Home and Business 2013 to prepare and file my taxes.
By far the nicest thing was it downloaded my ESPP stock sale information from my broker. I didn't have to go through the usual, painful experience of trying to figure out cost basis and ordinary income vs. short-term capital gains vs. long-term capital gains, or what was or was not included on my W-2. Very helpful.
Puzzling to me was why it didn't automatically check for updates. I was nearly done with my taxes before I finally did it myself, and had to go back and double-check quite a bit. Really, this should at least be offered automatically at startup.
What's great about it: comprehensible, downloaded my stock sales
What's not so great: didn't automatically check for updates
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Return Printing

Finding the applicable items in it's deductible to match donations is daunting and out of date, especially toys but everything else in completing Turbo Tax returns is well explained.
Since I double side print my mailed return to State, it would be nice when selecting print for filing that the instructions page was not included in the page count and print. I had to redo the print to eliminate that page, wasting paper. Remember to select printing range of page 2-XX.

What's great about it: Running balance of tax owed or due.
What's not so great: Printing shouldn't include the instructions page with the forms which inbeds in double sided return.
