I liked my experience with Turbo Tax 2013. It was a very easy to use program that helped me to get a return that I was happy with.
What's great about it: Very easy to use
What's not so great: Larger list of possible help questions

Great Experience Again with TurboTax

I appreciate how easy TruboTax makes the process of filing taxes! Some sections seem overly detailed but I think that's the U.S. tax laws and I'm glad your software is so thorough. Thank you so much for a great product!
What's great about it: Easy to use and when I'm stuck there are helpful links
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Print Nightmare
on April 15, 2014

I have used turbo tax for the last time---impossible to print re.turn for filing without doing it page by page even after downloading the most current form of Adobe. I will use a different one next year. I have used turbo tax for at least 12 years and this was the worst experience for those of us who choose not to e-file a return.
You have successfully turned this into the same nightmare that the most recent form of quick books accounting program---more detailed and complicated than most small businesses like mine need.
What's not so great: Printing of return impossible even after using all the help suggestions.

made my life easier, even though i owe, so its off to work i go. thank you for this tool. i've been using your product for many years and will continue to use it, just wish it were more within my price range. i know it is still cheaper than going to a cpa, but was a struggle this year. again thank you for your product, i would rather do the taxes myself than have someone do them for me, not real trusting on that issue.
What's great about it: easy
What's not so great: price
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Interview questions should be asked based on context which is created based on user's answers so far.
2. In my daughter's W2 she has lots of letters in box 12 with 00 amount. TurboTax started asking lots of unnecessary questions which were unnecessary if amount is 0.
What's great about it: Detailed questions
What's not so great: Questions should be asked based on context or user's profile

glitches

Caught two problems with TT. 1. Trying to enter shared cost of energy saving equipment (high efficiency hot water). TT referred me to Line 8 of Form 5695. This is the wrong line. TT would not calculate the correct ($150 total) deduction if actual costs inserted. Manually doing Form 5965 results in $150 credit. 2. TT did not automatically fill in the deduction for contributions to federal retirement plan under MA tax Form 1. Incorrectly only counted Medicare taxes withheld. Did not add in contributions to CSRS retirement plan, which would result in maximum deduction of $2000. TT auto fill resulted in less than $2000. Had to go into Forms and correct the form manually to get the proper deduction.
What's great about it: easy to enter via questions
What's not so great: don't know if Turbo Tax is getting it right. Hard to correct known errors.
