Wish there was a person to call instead of the simple help FAQs.
What's great about it: Better than doing it by hand, filing is easy
What's not so great: No instructions, some confusing procedures, had to go to the help pages

Has the world gone mad???
on April 15, 2014

The world has gone mad with this FLAT display (call it stuff)!
I had 4 others look at the screens and ALL had trouble reading them.
I have been using TurboTax from day one, howefver if TTax 2014 has same look as this I WILL canclel my membership.....
Also why the long delays when navigating between some of the sections? There was NO indication of activity, however it finally would complete whatever was going on.
What's great about it: Typical thoroughness'
What's not so great: Excessive eye strain and headaches trying to read the screen

Turbo Tax Needs Help
on April 15, 2014

Because we are military, I had to pay the extra money for two states. Unfortunately, one of the states will not print the correct forms and supporting documents. I need Virginia 763-S and all supporting documents but when I go to print all that prints is the instruction page. This is very frustrating. I feel like I was short changed. I will definitely think twice next year about which tax software product to purchase.
What's great about it: Fairly straight forward and easy to use.
What's not so great: Virginia 763-S and supporting documents will not print.

small business owner

I have been using Turbo Tax for several years for personal taxes. When my hobby got bigger than I expected, the business program was needed to file taxes. I was nervous how much I would have to pay on profit for my "business" but the program made it very easy and simple to understand. I also like being able to go back into any section to correct items when I found the proper category further down the screen.
What's great about it: Easy to use for small businesses
What's not so great: screens need to stay in place. Don't like having to scroll down to bottom of screen after each section.

Subpar vs previous years

I have used TurboTax for many years. I found this year to be the most frustrating experience. In addition to a few sections where I felt the software could have guided me a little more easily so that I didn't have to google tax laws (Restricted Stock Unit dividends), I also just wasted 2.5 hours trying to get it to e-file. It kept saying it needed to update, even though I had updated it over and over and over again. I believe it had something to do with re-entering the signature even though this was a repopulated field to begin with. It said it filed but I haven't yet received an email. Given all the difficulties e-filing, I can only hope that it worked.
What's great about it: familiarity
What's not so great: Intuit programming glitches

Great way to File!!

Turbo Tax is better than most tax accountants, because most of them do not have in depth tax training. Oh, all can do a short form and basic itemizing, but if you have a business (Schedule C), many are lost. I managed two businesses with TurboTax with the Business component and got results. It was much-much cheaper than hiring an accountant with such skills. Then I got the "Audit Defense" to back me up just in case an audit is demanded. Outstanding value!!
What's great about it: Excellent process that easily guides you through the filing
What's not so great: None that I can see
