I have been using Turbo Tax Home and Business for several years and have found it to be a time and money saving way to do taxes. You have to get all the material together for a Tax Company anyway, so why not do it yourself.
What's great about it: It makes doing my personal/business taxes very easy
I actually began using Mac-in-Tax in 1992. I've continued to use it and its TurboTax successor ever since. I've not had a problem with the program in all that time and have been pleased with the result. I consider myself a very satisfied customer.
What's great about it: Easy to Use.. Documentation is even better
I love how the step by step process is so easy. Turbo Tax Home and Business covers every possible scenario, as we have partnership, self-employed and W-2, as well as rental income. My only quibbles are that it is not real easy to see where the amounts you are putting in during the interview process show up on the various forms. Also, while importing info from last years return, not all of the info seems to be remembered, such as during disposition of an asset, you need to reenter when it was purchased.
What's great about it: Step by step and easy to follow
What's not so great: interface between interview and form # is not seamless
Other than this year's versions inability to e-file the State return, Turbo Tax is a quick and inexpensive tool to prepare and file taxes.
One should have a bit of knowledge about taxes to use Turbo Tax. What are and are not business expenses according to the given profession should be understood before hand
What's great about it: Confidence and convenience of preparing and filing taxes
What's not so great: Couldn't e-file the NYS forms this year
I've used TurboTax for about 15 years and wouldn't use anything else. It's fast, efficient, answers all my questions and works with every level of income!
