I have used this software for many years and still do not know how to save a copy to a disc or memory stick so I can store it away for reference. It would be nice to store it so when I get a new computer, I can move it onto the new computer and when I load the current year software everything will transfer over.
What's great about it: Good explainations, Detailed Step by Step,
What's not so great: can't always find the topic I need when I need it, Questions aren't always in the order I feel they should be

Keeps getting better and better

This is my 15th year doing my taxes using TurboTax. Apart from the smooth import from previous years tax return, the fast and accurate tax engine aided with simple and straight-forward user experience makes doing taxes something that you do not have to dread. The comprehensive FAQ and support articles has answered all my unusual questions that I had on my taxes. e-Filing is a breeze and you know the status of where your money is. TurboTax continues to become sophisticated and smart over the years and these days, almost all your financial institutions for 1099-INT, 1099-B, 1099-DIV, W2, etc. are linked and can be downloaded into the software automatically - the only thing is that you need to be web savvy and must have accounts setup for your financial institutions (Citibank, Bank of America, Chase, Morgan Stanley, etc.). Other thing is that I really enjoy the feel that I can go back and forth to tweak my data - ultimately it is my data and I am in the best position to see if I got it correct. Doing so I also learn about tax laws and something that I could do differently next year.
The only issue I have is that when I have complicated scenario (converting my primary residence to rental and moving to another location and then converting my other rental to primary residence all in the same year) gets tricky. I am not saying that TurboTax Home & Business cannot do it - but there is room for improvement. I have had this exact situation in TY2009 and I must say that this year in 2013, TurboTax was able to calculate my ratio of # of days as Primary Residence vs. Rental much elegantly.
I strongly recommend TurboTax over other Brick and Mortar Tax Stores - because of ease, flexibility and control. TurboTax help is more knowledgeable than many of their associates. Good Job TurboTax Team & Intuit - Keep it up!
What's great about it: Intuitive User Experience, Fast & Reliable Tax Engine, Automatic Imports for most financial institution data
What's not so great: Super complicated tax return needs manual cross-checking
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

I was impressed with the ease of use this year. I convinced some family members to purchase and use this year and they were shocked at how intuitive the product is. Good job Intuit! I've used the product for 5+ years now and it has improved every year and ia practically idiot proof. The best software for users at all levels.
What's great about it: very year the software gets easier to use and more intuitive.
What's not so great: None. No glitches seen in past years.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Impressive!

On data entered on Form 1116, the system claimed it had an error and I was not able to eFile. The information was correctly entered and reflected exactly as the K1. No Income or Loss from a Source outside of the USA was received, however, Foreign Taxes were paid from an undisbursed dividend.
What's great about it: Data entered once feeds to multiple forms.
What's not so great: Failed on Foreign Tax Credit - Form 1116
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easy, Fast, and No Worries

I had always used a tax accountant until about 6 years ago when I decided to use TT for the first time. Now I am hooked on TT because it automatically fills in my personal info from the previous year, shows me the previous year's forms info for comparison purposes, and just simply walks me right through the process of filling in the info that I need to file. Just couldn't ask for an easier way to file taxes!
What's great about it: Software walks you right through the entire process - so easy

made it simpler

I think it is import for the tax payer to understand what it is they are doing and the IRS process is not simple and often down right confusing. Someone needs to do a good job of explaining terms and concepts or providing examples. Turbo tax does not always do that. My best source of info was actually the internet. While I could not always see the connection between what Turbo tax asked and where it was being put on the forms, they did a good job for me and made my life much easier ( I might still be working on this a month later) There were several entries where I had questions about what I needed to do or how to do it and Turbo tax did not provide an easy way to get answers.
You would think that for selling a rental property the process of figuring out how to report it and what to report could be a lot simpler. How difficult does it have to be to say that when you depreciate a home that you are actually deferring the taxes on the money .... write it off when spent, but add it back in when you sell the house and because you did not pay taxes on the money when it was earned, that amt would be taxed at the ordinary income rate. More good examples and a logic diagram might make the process easier.
What's great about it: I had a complicated filing which would have required me to do a lot more work than I realized . This really helped.
What's not so great: Leads you by the nose, but doesn't really help you understand the process
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
