Turbo Tax review

I will be glad to recommend to any senior citizen or anybody that uses a computer and is not afraid of the internet.
What's great about it: Easy to navigate, just keeps getting better every year
What's not so great: There really wasn't any negative features worth mentioning

Slow starting but quickly rolled through it.

It took quite some time to get started...but once it started rolling things went well!

Horrible product

Simple task: to prepare an extension request and e-file seems to be IMPOSSIBLE to find. The program asks if I want an extension in RANDOM places, then suddenly ASSUMES I am MAILING it. Newsflash: everyone is allowed to e-file an extension AND pay electronically, today on April 15th. Except the geniuses at Intuit made that option as elusive as possible, I am not even certain if it finally did that, or filed my full returns! Second issue: having to download and install last-minute updates, and being told by Turbo Tax that it cant transmit e-file because "updates are available": had to run that circle FOUR times before something happened and it decided to let it transmit. WHAT A WAIST of money this product is. Horrible SHAME.
What's great about it: ..well, it is all in one place.
What's not so great: but the sun aint shining there.

Problems arose

This year was hard as TurboTax didn't run smoothly on the first two computers I used. Step to step transitions were very slow, with the spinning donut there for a long time. Maybe a contributing factor was Turbotax's need for memory. I guess I'll never know, but maybe next year you can try to produce a product that doesn't need so much memory.
Just a thought
What's great about it: went well on third computer I used
What's not so great: seems to require a lot of memory to use

Turbo Tax - My personal CPA

Tax time is always a drag, but with Turbo Tax and its easy to use step by step questioning system... the only thing you need to worry about is having all your tax forms handy and some time to enter all the information. Once you've entered that information, the error check button highlights to tell you if there's any errors and if so, it'll walk you through each error to correct or answer and will then run the check again until the no errors message appears. Simple... Simple... Simple... I've used turbo tax every year since 1996 and will never switch.
What's great about it: Error check... need I say more?!?
What's not so great: Wish both Federal & State e-file was free!!!

great self-education tax filing program

I appreciate turbo tax's continue effort for making the program affordable, user-friendly, more importantly for making great effort to educate taxpayers with tax knowledge, guidance and IRS updates so that we all can do great job with filing our individual taxes.
What's great about it: detailed, educational, specific steps and guidance
What's not so great: if it could show step by step calculation on how to arrive each numbers, that will really helpful for taxpayers.

No-Sweat Filing

I've used TurboTax for many years and it gets better every year. The greatest difficulty I have is in the review stage when something is wrong; sometimes I have difficulty remembering where I entered the amounts and getting back to that entry. A direct link from each item to its entry page would really make TurboTax a snap!
What's great about it: Things common to the majority of returns are explained clearly. I like the ease of e-filing.
What's not so great: How to report oil and gas royalties for which I got 1099s was confusing.
