Easy, Peasy

My husband usually uses TurboTax to file our Federal and State returns each year. But this year he was too busy and it fell to me to complete. I had never used TurboTax before, and even though I own my own small business, I was able to complete the return in record time! I love TurboTax, and will recommend it to everyone I know.
THANKS TURBOTAX!!
What's great about it: Complicated - Made easy with TurboTax
What's not so great: Couldn't find one!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Disappointed: Not warned that filing not complete
on April 15, 2014

When I completed my taxes in early March, I decided to sign up for the Audit Service. It appeared to me that I had filed my federal and state taxes for myself and dependent.
There was no indication that I had not completed the submission. Since I normally receive my refund within a few weeks, I decided to track the refund today. To my dismay, neither had been submitted. There was no indication that the short form had not been filed and neither my long form. Greatly disappointed
What's great about it: Much impproved over past years
What's not so great: No warning that taxes not transmitted 1 month ago
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Even K-1s are easy!!!

Seriously, have you ever tried to do K-1s w/o TURBOTAX? Nightmare!!! So much easier with TT. Still, its the worst part about doing my taxes. Every year I say I am going to sell those stocks...never do though cause the returns are so sweet...oh well.
This is the first year TT didn't catch all the errors right away. Hit ready to submit and an error popped up after already being checked three times. That is a little worrisome.
Isn't very easy to find the prepaid downloads on the website. Glad I didn't have to call for help this year. That is different. So, maybe it has improved some this year. However, I wasn't able to find my 2012 return that I did online last year, so no prefilled information. Oh well, that's what I get for waiting til the last minute like always.
What's great about it: Super easy. K-1s a breeze.
What's not so great: Website not so friendly.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

Other than having to make several tries to import Quicken data, everything was pretty transparent. Seems to get easier each year, which is nice.
What's great about it: Seems to get easier and better organized each yeasr
What's not so great: Transfer of Quicken info could be better

Good and quick overall experience, community lacks

I have used TurboTax for years, the best part being just loading last year's information, having it side by side on most screens for comparison, and having many of the categories and itemizations already typed in and ready to go.
The cons are still that when you get stuck, the community toolbar on the right really doesn't follow you in context or get you over the hump. Google did a better job at that. If they could coordinate the community to be sharing realtime, and put top answers for the section you're working, then you'd have something more people would buy and use.
What's great about it: easy questions, relatively good explanations
What's not so great: even google helped a bit more than the community
