Glad to be done!

Turbo tax is great. I have used it for four years and it improves every year. It would be great if the state program was as good as the federal. There needs to be a link directly to the Alabama workbook so you could check on the rules/laws when questions arise. Need greater clarification of how AL and Feds differ and reassurance that all data relevant to AL has been imported to the State form. I spent too much time checking on things. (The note that AL med deductions is less that the Feds is an example of how TT did this very well, would help to provide more info and do this with all differences. Also, it is hard to locate documentation for minimizing underpayment penalties. A reminder of what documentation to keep to do that in the future would be helpful. It would be great to be able to go back after your return has been filed and change your withholdings and try to revisit when income and expenses occurred to reduce late payment penalty. When you are trying to get finished is not the best time to answer so many questions, but I would like to revisit that after 4/15. If you can do that I would appreciate someone letting me know. Overall, I am very, very pleased with Turbo Tax and will use it again next year.
What's great about it: Turbo tax easily takes you through the filing process. Ability to go back and forth as you find documentation is great
What's not so great: It is harder to go back in the Alabama form without starting at the beginning.

Quick and Pretty easy

I have used the program for more than 10 years and yes my tax situation has gotten more difficult but I would have thought that TurboTax would make it all easy.
All in all worth the money and the work to file on my own.

What's great about it: Great interface and most questions easily answered
What's not so great: Tough figure out how to print state many deductions were not well explained

A consistently good product. have used it for past 10 years probably, very happy with it. no errors that I've found. my taxes not overly complex. probably standard for a home owner.
What's great about it: Easy and Comprehensive
What's not so great: Friends want you to do their taxes for them

I survived!

Totally procrastinated doing this years return due to the complexity of the return...wasn't as bad as I thought. Home and Business made it one of the easiest year to complete to date. So glad I didn't take it to a "professional" and saved hundreds doing it myself.
What's great about it: Most complex return i have done to date and I did it w/Turbo tax
What's not so great: More fees to pay to file on top of software purchase.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Losing Your Edge

Have been a faithful user of TurboTax since 1989. First year to be disappointed. The program hung up numerous times, would not work properly, gave inconsistent instructions when going through my return for the second time and it left me uncertain of and lacking confidence in my return. Sorry, but I just did not feel I got my money's worth this time after 25 good years.
What's great about it: Continuity. Once you start you want to keep using this process
What's not so great: My return was just too complicated for you this time, TT just can't keep up with my needs anymore

Glitchy

After 10 years of using TurboTax, the navigation from spot to spot does not improve or get more intuitive. The embedded help isn't extensive enough--like with the HSA 1099. It did not walk me through the changes with that as helpfully as possible. I had to use google and search on my own.
Then, when it was time to submit, it was glitchy on my Mac and downloaded the updates several times. Again, I had to go to google to find help. Turns out it is a known problem. Then help for it should have been included.
Filing one small Schedule CEZ shouldn't cost so much more for the upgrade, either.
The transfer from last year is the biggest asset to TurboTax. I guess it is why I am a legacy customer.

Great Stress-Buster!

I really love having the choice to use the guide or proceed through a section on my own. Everything is well-organized and simple to handle, even for a novice. And for us non-novices, we can easily flip around to the areas we want to work on. I've recommended it to several people already!
What's great about it: Easy to use; guidance where needed; let me do my own thing when I'm comfortable doing so!
What's not so great: Finding some of the rules with Investments was a little challenging.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
