Overall am very satisfied with TurboTax. Only concern was it did not automaticly compare the new simplified home office deduction with detailing out the expenses. For me the simplified saved over $200. I read some about it but didn't try it the first time through. Felt like I had to manually compare.
What's great about it: The questions are good and straightforward to follow. It was also easy to go back and forth after all the initial entri
What's not so great: One comparison it missed for the new simplified home office exp.

I've been using TurboTax for years. It started out quick and easy. Then year by year it seemed top be getting slower & take longer to do my returns. For several years it seemed like a software programmer was trying to reinvent the wheel. They think adding more bells and whistles impressing people by showing off how smart they are. If things had progressed one more notch into the slow too many bells and whistles side this was going to be my last year. I only bought it this year giving it one more try because I did not wan to manually transfer last years information. To sum it up - I will be buying TurboTax again next year, I don't know what was done to the software to impress me but it was a walk in the park doing my taxes this year - just like it was when I first started using the software. Good Job!!
What's great about it: the programThe program seemed to be streamlined this year - the process seemed quicker.
What's not so great: Not enough con to mention

Poor Quicken Linkage
on February 15, 2014

This is the second year in a row that I had to make multiple guesses and do something apparently wrong to transfer my wife's business info from Quicken Home & Business to Turbo Tax. The default export/import path led to a reported business income almost 100x less than reality. I had to tell Quicken to do a generic export, tell Turbotax to do a generic import, and then manually delete a redundant set of business data (from where?) before I ended up with reasonable looking answers. This also meant I had to enter travel mileage totals manually since the generic import/export doesn't support this (evidently). I always feel I'm on my own when I use the two programs together, even though they're promoted as interconnecting seamlessly.
What's great about it: Accepted Quicken Home & Business output via generic export
What's not so great: Couldn't use 'easy' transfer from Quicken H&B to Turbotax

Two-State eFiling
on February 15, 2014

I dreaded the need to file our Federal, California, and Oregon taxes, since we moved in 2013. Of course, the process took longer this year, but I am quite confident using Turbo Tax that all the necessary information was covered and correctly filed. I have efiled our taxes using Turbo Tax for more than a decade, and I highly recommend the software and product.
What's great about it: Excellent Detailed Instructions
What's not so great: None
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments
