No Sweat

This product is easy to work with. After exiting from the program to do something else, it opens back up to where you left off. It is easy to navigate around. It also has an option to guide the person through the process step by step. It takes the guesswork out.
Having two businesses of my own, fulltime employment, and my wife's business, I would have to take about a man-month to get my taxes done each year. Turbo Tax is a time saver I can't afford to be without.
What's great about it: User friendly, logically organized, good checks & balances
What's not so great: cost
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great package. First time user and it was very easy. I have manually done them my self for years and this year decided to give it a whirl. Turbo tax return was 175.00 more than what I came up with, covered the cost of software.
Thanks
What's great about it: great walk through the process
What's not so great: not able to print forms.

Crummy experience, over-all

Couldn't easily add information, when I knew which information was needed and where. Couldn't find an edit key, often only the update key was available. Had to keep switching to the forms view, to add data. Used TurboTax last year, couldn't retrieve last year's data, had to manually re-enter everything. Mysteriously, when I did our son's tax this year, all of his data from last year reloaded. Really not too happy with the software performance, this is the worst experience I have had with TurboTax and have used it for several years, in the past.
What's great about it: Nothing positive to say
What's not so great: Hard to use, couldn't retrieve last year's data.

Love how easy it is and it asks all the questions to get the most refund possible. Even a deduction I didn't know I qualified for!
What's great about it: love how it walks me through step by step
What's not so great: Wasn't able to transfer last years Turbo info onto my new laptop.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

What happens to the payment sent by mail?
on April 16, 2014

Got a refund only after the state rejected my e-filing twice. What happened? I go from a large bill to one with a refund. I mailed the check the same day it was e-filled. Now I get a refund. I must now go through the trouble of getting my payment check sent back to me.
What's great about it: Went from a $3,900 payment to a revised $2300 refund
What's not so great: Why the glitch?

Automated as usual, but watch for updates!

The software was very thorough, walking you through the various sections automatically, as you've come to expect. However, I tried several times over several days to get the recommended updates to download with no success or explanation. When it came time to submit my tax form to the IRS, the app refused, saying the updates were mandatory.
If this happens to you, go to Help and type in a search that descries the problem (required updates won't download, for instance).
This is a rather shocking lapse for Intuit - I can imagine the non-computer literate folks who couldn't figure out a way past this on April 15!
What's great about it: The usual automation we've come to love from Turbo-Tax
What's not so great: required updates won't download, preventing your efile!!
