Always the best bet!

In the way past, I analyzed Turbo Tax to doing the paper method. Back then I knew most of the tax laws pertaining to federal returns. Turbo Tax always gave me a better deal. I no longer keep up with the tax laws and just trust Turbo Tax and it method of qualifying me for credits and deductions. I recommend Turbo Tax to all my friends. My whole family files using Turbo Tax for several years now.

Most convenient filing yet

It seems that Turbo Tax gets better each year. The ability to import the taxpayer info from the previous year makes the set up extremely easy and error proof. The actual preparation is a snap since I no longer have to read extensive pamphlets to be assured that returns are accurate. The drop-down boxes help to understand the items being completed are correctly filed.
What's great about it: Importing last years return makes getting started a snap.
What's not so great: Look ups can be confusing.

Excellent Year

When entering the dividends, the data given by the broker used the term multiple for purchase dates and the form required various. Coordinating with the brokerage houses would eliminate this.
What's great about it: Easy enough to accomplish
What's not so great: Terminolgy differences on some forms
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I enjoy doing my own taxes. Turbo tax made it simple. Easy to follow along and yet jump backwards or forwards if you so desire.
What's great about it: Easy to quickly manuver around
What's not so great: Had to read a few things several times to get it.

Community property filing

Community property is a challenge... TurboTax makes it worse as there is no guidance and the forms are not properly connected resulting in manual transcriptions and difficulty in determining if the work is done properly.
If this issue isn't fixed for 2014, I'll go to a tax pro to work through the forms
