easy process

i like how they double check your returns twice for mistakes and errors. And i love the option of their inexpensive audit defence.

What's great about it: smart program that gives you maximum deductions and very detailed
What's not so great: expensive software i wish if they send me discounts every year because i use it all the time

This is my second year to use Turbo Tax. I found it difficult to navigate and couldn't just go to the error I spotted to correct it, but then had to enter the information all over again.

Excellent product

Overall a much better product than trying to figure out what my CPA did last year and a whole lot cheaper. Great feature to be able to upgrade to another product if needed.
What's great about it: Very thorough, direct and easy to use.
What's not so great: A little confusing trying to go back and recheck something you entered

I have used this product for several years and so far I have not had any issues with government about my returns.
What's great about it: Walks you through your return easily
What's not so great: There is not enough information about topics and the review at the end is confusing.

Chaos to Blissful Order...

After a few years of nightmares with the IRS, I thought I finally had everything worked out. The mess caused me to file manual taxes for a few years which only added to the problems. Then, in TY 2012, I thought I was all set but I made a stupid manual error which was totally preventable. This year I followed the advice I give to everyone else (get TurboTax) and my tax filing process took 1/10th the time, all looks accurate, and there are a number of tools and explanations for things I didn't understand well before. This will help me keep better books moving forward and I have the mental assurance that all is well (unlike filing manual forms where I wondered what might be wrong). Using TurboTax is like having a tax expert prep my tax forms. I can't say enough about how much it helped me. Well worth the expense.
What's great about it: Intuitive, Accurate, Helpful
What's not so great: Cannot copy text from main window, not always clear how to make adjustments in different view modes

Simplifies the "what-ifs" without manual recalcs

Very easy data entry and allows you to enter data in any order and to come back and edit any item. I use the "enter my own" choices. Really like the constant display of tax due (or refund due). The program does hide visibility into some key items. For example if doesn't tell whether standard deduction or itemized deductions were used. And if standard was used it doesn't have an easy way to find out how many more itemized deductions would have been required to cross the itemized deduction threshold. It would also be good if it compared married filing jointly with married filing separately.
What's great about it: Easy entry, dynamic calculations
What's not so great: Hides some valuable insights
