Year to year continuity helped. Schedule C remained for some reason, A past reference to a business i have long ended remained and caused constant errors asking for business name and business code.for royalties received. When it was spotted in the California Review, it insisted that I had a LLC and my business needed a name and purpose. I chose to close the program and return to the Federal version, and it asked if I wanted to save the file. I didn't, and the information I had entered since last using the program was deleted. That was my error, but there was no indication that the whole days work would be lost. I did use the 'Turbo Tax community' thereafter, and the first response to the 'closed business' issue suggested that I delete the Schedule C altogether. All went swimmingly thereafter.
Finally, the entry for Deductions was tedious. It is logical, I agree, but it is not user-friendly. Someone needs to re-work the module. I would have liked to change the fornt size as well. Maybe there are system-based ways to change that, but I don't know them.
What's great about it: Year to year continuity
What's not so great: Confusing error messages
Pros: I bought or sold investments

great.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: would have liked it to tell me if it made sense to file married together or married separately

Some questions about amortization not clear how to answer
from the K1
zip code for the 1098T would not allow me to file. A bummer when you have spent days on it and just want to get it in. A fee for the efile was not expected for the state return. No intructions which pages to print to send it in and where to send it.
Overall a great tool to learn what income and deductions records you should keep.
Thanks for an amazing product.
What's great about it: Questions cover a multitude of details and help sort out what to enter
What's not so great: problem with zip code of the 1098 T that wasn't recognized and so I could not get it to file. A downer at the end.

Have used for Turbo Tax for several years and have had a good experience. I should be able to upgrade each year since there is generally only a few changes in my return.
What's great about it: I like the explanation for the items and the examples
What's not so great: State return fee should be incluided for free.

Turbo Tax Rocks

I love Turbo Tax. I have been using it for 10 years + and I recommend it all. Most are too scared to do their taxes by themselves but they should not be. Turbo Tax is so easy to us ANYONE can use it, even for schedule Cs and other more complicated returns.
What's great about it: Great interview based questions and easy to use.
What's not so great: Not really any
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Helped me understand Schedule C

It was easier than trying to understand the written form. This was my first time filing a schedule C. I would have liked it better if I could see the actual forms filled out before sending. There may have been a way but I was rushing and didn't get to look into it. Once I printed out my final return after e-filing, I was looking it over and that's when I finally understood the business expenses vs home office expenses sections. I still don't understand the depreciation sections.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Simply The Best

Since I started doing my own tax return, I have always used TurboTax. Because I have never used another program, I can only compare TurboTax against itself. Every year the "user-friendliness" gets better, even though "user-know-how" may not. The prompts are easily understood, and the Help section has improved. There are some "statement questions" that could be more explicit if posed directly as a question. Even so a second reading of the "statement question" suffices.
What's great about it: User-friendly
What's not so great: Going from one point in sec A to a point in sec B then back to the point in sec A w/o going thru sec A in its entirety

Excellent product. Used since the DOS days. Great results and a great tool for running scenarios for future planning.
What's great about it: Great wizard. Helpful notes and videos. Files online. Stats to compare with last year and national averages.
What's not so great: Replacing estimated values is a bit awkward.
