I started using TurboTax to file my own taxes when I was 17. Some 9 years later, I still use it. Each year my taxes get a little more complicated, and even as my job and student statuses switch from year to year, I know that I can rely on TurboTax to make filing my taxes simple, easy, and efficient. Every year when the software loads my previous year's filing information, I feel reassured that TurboTax will get me the best refund yet again!
What's great about it: Simple, efficient, streamlined
What's not so great: N/A
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Great value at a great price. As a CPA who prepares my own tax returns, I really like the format of the step-by-step process and feel comfortable the software helps me prepare an accurate tax return. I don't do tax work for clients but always recommend TurboTax to my clients.
What's great about it: Rolling forward data from prior year tax files
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
Tax laws are complex and burdensome, but TurboTax makes filing my returns easy, year after year. Plus, I love to watch the numbers in the gauges at the top of the screen change each time I make an entry -- especially if the numbers stay green (meaning I'm getting a refund), and not turn red (meaning I'll have to pay something). I never thought I'd say this, but filing my taxes can even be kinda fun.
What's great about it: Easy to use, even fun
What's not so great: Too many hoops to jump through there at the end for e-filing. I just wanted to be done!
In the old days before TurboTax came into my life I would put off doing my taxes until the last second... even if I was getting a refund. Now I file early.
